If I remember correctly this man abandoned the wife and two children he had to marry the rich woman. When she told the girl to get away from her house - it is hers. And, she wanted and bought him to share in her riches. Him berating the man from where his ex works (it's like an open market alley) and lives is ridiculous. The girl went searching for him because though she is hospitalized he still doesn't come to see her. A condition of the new wife for their marriage is that he forget about his past and all people in it - especially his ex and the children. He accepted this and pretty much holds to it, but if she finds he hasn't and is with them she demands he leave with her and he does - like a flunky. He hasn't any say as a man. ("The man/woman with the gold makes the rules.") He sold himself for a better life not caring that his children are left living the same life he ditched...knowing the new wife would never allow him to take the children to come live with them. So, 'ditched.' The man who was sitting with the girl was helping the mother (who he likes?) - the people from the 'alley' always aid each other. So, the 'father' is projecting his own lack of care for his daughter onto this man's momentary absence. It is him who is guilty of neglecting her. He CHOSE neglecting his previous children. And, he said when she was found that he could only come when he's not busy...i.e. when he can escape the watchful eye of his now wife and their daughter (who aids her mother). Because why couldn't he stop by before or after work - most days if not every day, for even 15 minutes? If this guy knew his wife berated this girl calling her stinky and pushing her away from their house...he wouldn't do a thing about it except maybe tell the girl not to come there anymore. He is super lousy.

@@brendamelvin3490 thanks for the synopsis. Worse, he abandons for his own interest. Sickening. He deserves the emasculation he receives from his new wife. So sad though the children has to deal with an awful father.
