A low latency polyphonic pitch pedal that can also be used as a capo/droptune is something that a lot of guitarists covet for some time. Yet a review or a company video where we can listen and know the amount of glitch and latency - so we can decide the usability of the pedal - cannot be done. Here’s why: When activating the pitch pedal, the reviewer immediately loses the ability to play chords, this is known as the mono-noodling syndrome and it’s currently being studied by the neurologists at the Hôpital Européen Georges-Pompidou. It’s also related to latency, if the reviewer accidentally plays two strings simultaneously, the latency on the brain augments immensely leading to pauses of 3 hours or more, fortunately the video editor edits out these deep introspective moments for us. Playing only monophonic phrases on polyphonic pitch pedals is also a matter of sound aesthetics, like those fantastic videos of people reviewing amp and speaker sims through real amps. A dangerous thing, as such redundancy is well known to produce extra ripples in the fabric of space-time. Obviously, audio companies and buyers are already very lucky with reviewers. And the people working for years on audio innovations are surely very grateful for having their hard work showcased so masterfully. Nevertheless I leave here my proposal to do my own reviews for you. Send me your gear and I promise that I’ll review your: - reverb and delay pedals in churches, tunnels and real echo chambers - test speakers and audio interfaces AD/DA with a mp3 of John Cage 4:33 - microphones with…other microphones! (don’t want to bore with technicalities but it’s a mic placed in front of another) - test wireless connections with cables and very expensive multi-fx units in bypass - test synths with prepared piano pieces (I’ll strategically place sheets of paper, dry autumn leaves and other objects on top of the synth…even place a chewing gum between the keys B and C to make it avant-garde) - play cowbell with a guitar pick while using the cowbell to play flute (under strict supervision of Christopher Walken) Looking forward to test your gear :)

Question.....the original pitchfork goes 1, 2, then 4 pitches and skips the 3rd....meaning, if I am in A, and I keep dialing the pitch key up, it will go A#, B, then C#......Will this pedal allow me to hit the 3rd, or C, note that the original pitchfork doesn’t????
@nedim_guitar2 жыл бұрын
This pedal has major and minor 3rd's.

What is the difference between this and the TC Electronic Quintessence harmonizer? Also, could this pedal function as a stand alone pitch shifter like the EHX Pitch Fork and Digitech Pitch Shift? I do realize that the Brainwaves pedal is a pitch shifter but could the setting be configured as a “transposer” and if so, how good is the tracking? My entire pedalboard isTC Electronic with the exception of a PitchFork (which is a great pedal) and a SansAmp. If I had a TC electronics pedal could replace the pitchfork I would snatch it up in a heartbeat.....
@tcelectronic5 жыл бұрын
Brainwaves is polyphonic and works more à la Pitchfork, whereas Quintessence is monophonic and requires you to dial in the desired key and scale. Brainwaves can also drop or raise your tuning completely - a "transposer" as you mention 🙂

I am looking to play in different tunings with this, is this possible ?
@CaalamusTube5 жыл бұрын
Why wouldn't it be? You're just adding copies of the original Signal & offsetting them by your chosen amount. The concept of a Pitch Shifter doesn't act on individual Notes within a given Signal... but rather on everything you pass through it. Thus... if I set it to raise all input by 1 Octave, or a Fifth, or whatever... the information I feed it, is irrelevant. It will simply output what I tell it to. Right? :]
@Pretzels7225 жыл бұрын
@@CaalamusTube pitch shifters often have better/worse tracking depending on the pitch being played. in a tuning using lower / higher pitches this could possibly be an issue
@CaalamusTube5 жыл бұрын
@@Pretzels722 This is only relative to how high or low said pitch is... not the intervalic variations one would witness between ...say DADGAD & Standard E. So yeah, you might have issues playing one of those Ibañez 7 String beasts Korn made popular. But this isn't a problem with "alternate tuning" as much as it is a lower register. If you tune every Note to Middle E, it's going the track just as well as it will EADGBE. Tuning's not the problem.

@@Georg89 Thanks man! 🤘🏼 The brainwaves does not sound organic (to my ears) when you use for drop tuning. Also (don’t know why) you lose some gain in the tone, and sounds kind of weird, artificial. I guess it was not built for that purpose…. Cheers! 👍🏼

Oh I'd love to get myself some brainwaves! However, I'm wondering if it's capable of what I'm planning to use it for. Is it possible to create a template in TonePrint Editor which will enable the 'voices' knobs to shift pitch by cents (not by fixed intervals)? I need to be able to bend the pitch in a more 'continous' fashion, and have the option to shift it by less than semitone (preferably all the way up to 24 semitones bend when knob is turned to max)
@derekgonzales5 жыл бұрын
Great playing. However, since one person is playing and another is tweaking and "mashing", most of the musical results sounded disjointed. It would have been much better to have one person play and operate the pedal... I'm sure one person would be able to come up with riffs that sounded appropriate for each setting and also use the mash footswitch in a musical way. This sounded like one guy jamming and another just trying to show off the pedal's settings.
