This is a really lovely layout. I suppose 18 x 10 is quite a generous space but somehow it feels even bigger - the landscape is so well realised. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comment Gary. Yeh, I like the open air feel, too much town can make the place very crowded.

Duncan thanks. Yep, I like to have plenty of action. I’ve been working on the vehicles, and the road system over the last couple of weeks. I have converted the vehicles to British bodies, and I’m in the process of relaying the whole road system. Instead of the faller wire, I’m laying magnetic tape. Hope to have it finished in the next few days. I will put up a short video when complete. Thanks again for the comments. Doug.

Thanks Chris, glad you like it. I think I put a video about changing the faller wire for magnetic tape, you may wish to look at that. The wire is ok, but I find the tape a better job.

Your video just came up in my feed. Fantastic layout and can’t believe you built it so quickly and are thinking of ripping it out already! I am a year in and have only completed a fraction of mine, which is about a a quarter of the size of yours. You must have put a lot of planning into the layout, I think it would be my ideal layout, it has everything you need on a model railway. The faller road has given me an idea for my mine. Going to have to see if I can retro fit it. I have just subbed you. Thanks for sharing. Mark

Mark, thanks for the comments, really appreciate them. I’m a bit of a serial builder, that’s what I enjoy. My present layout, which I started in the first lockdown is the longest I’ve had a layout. Already thinking about the next. I quite like the look of the new TT 120 gauge, I think Hornby’s announcement the other day will be a game changer for that scale in the UK. Just for your info, I converted all my Faller vehicles to British bodies, and they all now run on AAA batteries, no more charging. I think I put a video on the channel showing them. Thanks again. Doug.

Stunning Doug! How you had the heart to rip this up I don’t know! You build at a very fast pace but retain quality! Love to see some of your techniques for construction. Love your Boche Buster! I have Gladiator. What control system do you use for the locos? Are your points motorised? The Faller system really enhances the layout. Thank you for sharing your work.

How do you keep track clean?
@dougbull3289
@dougbull3289 Жыл бұрын
Bryan Hi, my layout is DCC and I know some people say the track has to be spotless for DCC, but I can quite honestly say I seldom clean the track. Generally I clean a small bit if the lights on the loco’s start flickering, or the sound starts missing a beat, and I use a track rubber (cheap and simple). I bought a track cleaning wagon years ago, I think I’ve used it twice.Atb Doug.
