The theme music was composed and recorded using only the Arturia MIcroFreak. The drums were programmed using a Korg Triton LE.

I just bought a Microfreak, entered on KZfaq to check something, it recommended me the first video and here I am, after spending my Saturday watching the whole series in one go. That was a very thorough explanation of the synthesizer. Thank you, sir.

Hi There. I am also a MF owner and Arturia fan. Don't I just love it when I can only get 5 to 7 minutes into a music demo before clicking pause to go to my MF to try what they are doing and finding myself two hours later chin deep in new sequences with automation. Tadaaaaaaaaa! And paired with my keystep OHHHHMAGAAAWD it's like hot fudge with an ice cream center. Thank you very much for making this unexpected day off (meaning no pay) at least worth the time sitting in my room all day :D Thanks.

Thank you very much for this series of videos. You are an excellent teacher. I realize that the instrument is against all the electrical engineering behind the soft authentic tones of anlog synths with being a digital box of circuits - but I don't care, it's great addition to my mostly analogic set. The depths achieved tone wise with the instrument are not cold to my ear and warmth with the instrument is quite effortless to achive. Though I have to admit that without the fairly recent Stellar limited edition I would have not purchassed this synth. Thank you again. 🍎

thanks for all your helpful and informative videos. amidst all the cool things the sequencer can do, you seem to have missed (and so have all the other review/tutorials) what it can't do: play 4 voices per step independently! i.e., the only way to get get 4 notes on a step is to play them simultaneously, a chord. you can't have 4 separate lines in counterpoint in a sequence. any new note falling on the same step will erase the previous note. this is important to me but i seem to be in the minority since i've heard no one else mention it. it also seems like pretty basic functionality. my volca bass can do it (albeit with only 3 voices) and my pocket operator po-33 can do it! i've taken this up with arturia, they have been very open and understanding - best support i've received, and are working on finding a solution for this shortcoming.

Spice and dice are great but it would be cool to be able to save those variations to new patterns. And please Arturia, add a metronome function for realtime recording :) Thanks again for the video Marc.
@rockhead11
@rockhead11 4 жыл бұрын
Lawrence Brock I just made the same metronome plea to Arturia on Marc’s Part One video. I also made the same request via their website. I’d love to use 64 steps of sequencing X 2 in realtime and creating a dummy metronome can ruin the groove that’s in your head.

I mean, the various possibilities u explained about how to use it, i've succeeded in transposing its in another Gear ! For ex, here, a Roland MC 505 i have... Do u see, Sir, what i'm talking about ?... Now, it has opening to me New amazing enjoying possibilities in my all music accomplissement with my machines, succeding faster & easier in my needs ! So, MERCI BEAUCOUP MONSIEUR, U match IT ! Alban.

I have one of these synths and for some reason I missed your 2 videos on the sequencer. Thanks for doing these 2 segments. Absolutley amazing information. Thank you. I was sitting here and trying to decide on what modular sequnecer to buy. I had no idea I already had it sitting here. I owe you big time for this video. Some of the things pointed out in this video are absolutely brilliant and MOST of which I didn't see in the manual. Maybe that info is in the manual but I couldn't see it. Best wishes and Thank You.

Great tutorial! Thanks! Do you happen to know if the following is possible? Say I have a sequence I made on the keyboard - can I externally trigger it? Say send whole notes from my DAW and have it play the sequence for the duration of that note (like if I was pressing that note on the mf keyboard) instead of playing that note itself? Thanks again!

A decent sequencer, but with some serious flaws. 1. No metronome in live recording mode, so you never know where you are in the sequence. 2. Apparently no way to clear motion data. You can record over them, but this still snaps the value back to where it was set during recording. 3. Appears not to switch from monophonic to paraphonic recording, so notes cut each other off even in para mode. Perhaps these issues will get attention in a firmware update... Still, none of this is a dealbreaker. Still one of my favourite synths. Epic fun.

I use a Zoom ms-70cdr effects pedal to add reverb and other effects to give a wider ambient feel. But it would be nice not to have needed to buy a separate effects unit.
