I was too distracted by how fast Micheal was trying to get through this that I had to go back and tell myself to actually listen. Too distracted by the why... is there a man in the room making him crank out youtubes to save someones life? But hey, when I went back and watched again - solid stuff. Thanks!

You are so freaking good at teaching dude. The only issue is how fast you are lmao. So much info that I have to rewatch the video like 3 times to get everything. Hahaha! Good stuff, loving your tutorials!

Same! If you just take a half breath after you've done soething so we can see the result before moving onto a new idea, that would make this much more digestible. If feels uncomfortable for me to do this when I teach, but it is necessary to help people absorb the info when they see if for the first time. But, I really appreciate your help!

nice tutorial as always. BTW a small note, unlike the others, crease curve brush actually has 3 options in brush modifiers. if u need to slice/trim and also apply a crease, u can use these options for that purpose.

When I first start a project, I can use the trim/slice tools but once I click Ctrl D it stops working. If I click freeze subdivision levels it works, but then once I unfreeze it turns the model this dark color and I cant even work on it. Anyone able to help me understand why and how to work through this?

@MichaelPavlovich
@MichaelPavlovich 4 жыл бұрын
slice should only affect one side of an object (it's not a mirrorable operation), unless you're slicing through an object, in which case just use ctrl+shift select rect and remove the visibility from the side you don't want the slice to affect, slice away, then ctrl+shift click in your document to make everything visible again

Although visible wehen masked by features (borders) but panel loop sperates it by creased or boareds hwo every it sperated instead of one bevel edge the edge ring..

Michael you videos are great ! Better than college ! I have a small question. is there a way to slice a shell with thickness and when i close the holes only the connecting walls and not the center ?
@MichaelPavlovich
@MichaelPavlovich 3 жыл бұрын
if it's a "simple" hole I'd use zmodeler > edge > bridge two holes (just click on the edge of one hole, then the edge of another); if it's kind of a messy dynamesh with holes sliced, I'd use the curve bridge brush (hold down shift while dragging to frame one hole, then do the same thing to the other hole, and it'll bridge the geo between the two holes)

I was having the toughest damn time in the world with this darn system because I didn't realize there was a shaded area to which it does the cut and I couldn't find one dumb video that points that out and you should point that out the next time you make this video because I kept on making circles or other weird shapes trying to cut things out and it didn't work. I'm still not sure I'm using it right.

I mean, if you just want to "delete a single part from a model" you're probably in the wrong video, slice and trim are for specific results. But if using slice and trim brushes in ZBrush is as difficult as becoming an astronaut for you, I can't say I'm super surprised you came to that conclusion.
