The radiator has been replaced, Now its time to drain some oil and find our electrical fault.

I have had it before where the fuse looks ok but has had a faulty. Other thing would be check the groundings and connects. I’ve kept away from puma’s as the TD5 is bad enough 😆

My thought with the anti freeze is that the thermostate didn't open as the engine/coolent wasn't hot enough so it could only take so much.

For a cheapish and easy way of working under cars, get 2 logs about 5 meters long, square them off as best you can but get them similar. 12 inches by 10 inches is good. Taper the ends, then when you need to work on a vehicle, lie them on the ground and drive up them. Safer than ramps, cheaper than a 2/4 post lift. I had this set up in my garage for years. Added bonus for me, was the ability to store stuff under the car. As you are a tree surgeon, getting suitable logs should be easy for you.

Those seeds on Biskits coat are they little round green balls, as my cat which has a long fur coat has got them on her underneath and bushy tail and she gets really stroppy when I try to comb them out with I hasten to say a proper cats comb, I think I might have to get her to the vets so they can give her a short back side all over

Spoke to neighbour who tinkers with his old Defender. Sounds mad but he said disconnect the battery on both terminals. Wait 5 mins or so, then reconnect. If that doesn’t work, test the earth from battery terminal to body using a multimeter or take it off and reseat it at the body end. If that doesn’t work check the earthing points around where you were working on the rad. Hope that helps.

Good luck on the rover . Use to know a little about a old seventies VW van . But no more . Cars are a mystery . But you farmers seem to figure it out . Those bail seem a little hot . You always try to teach us to be on the safe side . Take care .

We use a £15 pump from Lidl to drain oil out of machines. Piece of cake!

Must have been a Special Offer at our Lidl. £9.99, and did the job perfectly. The easiest Oil Change I've ever done, and I'm a Retired Mechanic. 😎

Looks similar to the meter Joe Seels uses. You may know he had a BIG Straw Fire the other year so is naturally paranoid about Bale moisture. He was also on about needing advice on an Ash in his garden. You could do worse than talk to him. As one who resisted you will have to admit you need to wear your glasses more - its an age thing 😹😹😹

I seem to recall that the British Army went through a phase of putting too much oil in newly acquired diesel engines and they ended up needing a few new engines! Hope your electrics are either solved or soon to be solved.

Usually the rev counter works from the alternator? You might of knocked the connection whilst changing the rad

The TD5 has a range of fuses under the drivers seat as well. Not sure what the Puma set up is but I do remember a similar issue with mine years ago. Went through all the fuses under the dash then found it was one under the seat. As for things in dogs - afraid its that time of year. My Westie is going through the same issues but he's not so keen on you doing it and if you're not careful, you can get a descent bite off him

when i over fill the oil i can remove it without taking the sump plug off, i use a clear fuel pipe for the mower and stuff and then get a can of air, i poke hole in the pipe and insert the pipe that comes with the can of air and then as i press the button air sucks up the oil and blows it back into the bottle again...

Disconnect the battery and reconnect it via the manual of land rover, leave them off for 20mins.

Someone will be borrowing that bale probe to see if your Sunday chicken is cooked....... (Halfords sell a handy sized siphon with tube that you can use to draw the oil out)

Have you got an OBD reader. Check for any faults and then clear faults. That might clear the problem.

Oh my your moisture tester is wag more complex than it needs to be i work at a hay and straw processing plant we run Delmhorst little orange unit with a wire that screws into top and a handle on the end of that that holds the probe super simple super reliable analog gauge it has 2 buttons one to test making sure the unit itself is good and and a moisture test button and ive tested tens of thousands of bales with my current tester i test little over 10,000 bales a year in my section of the plant as every bale needs to be tested least 3 times before it gets used and be under 14% or it gets rejected just wheat straw the entire plant makes around 80,000 bales a year and all the way across the plant we use the same tester and have for years rarely need to replace

Been easier to just drain all the oil out and put in a bit of new oil yes oil is not cheap but if the landy got a bit warm it may got bit condensation in it and you be cleaner and job be done .never muck with oil in a desiel it smells on you cloths for a while .
