Sometimes a good preacher, like a good teacher, doesn't know where his influence begins or ends. Yesterday I encountered a fellow Episcopalian online who shared a prayer, some breaking news (at least to me) and her joy at the ordination of The Rt. Rev. Deon Kevin Johnson as the Eleventh Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri. We had a nice exchange about his ministry, and she told me about a children's book about the late, great Rev. Pauli Murray, which was written by a friend of hers. Today her joy had turned into worry because she just lost her job and is struggling. I sent her a link to your homily today, knowing that it would be on point for her. So, your blessings have been multiplied and God has been glorified. Now ain't that good news!?! I ask your prayers for Bishop Johnson and his husband, for Dolores D*** in Missouri, and for me, who stands ever in need of prayer. Peace be with you.
