Solve a system of linear equations using the Thomas Algorithm
The Thomas Algorithm is used to solve tri-diagonal matrix systems.
A tri-diagonal matrix is a band matrix that is formed only when non-zero elements occupy the main, lower and upper diagonals of a matrix.
When the coefficient matrix is tri-diagonal, we decompose it;
A = LU
LUx = b, we let Ux = y....(2)
and Ly = b......(1)
