Went to the semi final at Dens Park and remember crying my eyes out as we lost the match to Aberdeen. Recall the coach journey from Paisley well as we usually went by car. Fabulous memories of many that are no longer with us. Thanks dad x

I was at this game. Behind the goal and up a bit when Fitzpatrick scored.

Tavy@ i was at this game as a 9 year old. And dundee utd had a brilliant team back then from 1977 to 1989. But st mirren must have been there bogey team becouse i saw dundee utd play alot from 1980 to 85 at the old st mirren ground and they never played well and i can hardly remember them beating st mirren in those 5 years. But utd were a better team all round. If you put the two of them on parkhead to play dundee utd would mostly have beaten st mirren then and beaten them well some times. Utd just didnt play well at love street. I was at the game the year before in 1981 and st mirren won 1-0 in that game too and it was the exact kind of game with utd not doing much and missing easy chances. I thought this cant be right he only had to hit it to score from 6 yards out and he still missesd. Not only the goal, or the chance, or even hit the keeper, but he missesd the whole lot as in the whole goals by hitting it just wide. As the ball came over kind of fast and at knee high he didnt know wither to just volley it home or control it by pulling the ball down to the ground then placeing it home becouse the ball had went over the keepers reach and at 6ft2 he went to the front post but had to come into the 6 yard box to try and catch it or clear it but he just missesd it by an inch or two. As alot of keepers arnt good at jumping up to at least 4 inches becouse they are too big at over 6ft and arnt as fit as the out field players. So the ball just dropped down quite fast as the wind was hurling about strong and in all directions. So he just went back about 3 yards to just hit the ball perfectly, but first he didnt know how far or close he would be to the ball by moving back, thats why you just take the ball as it comes to you then if your good enough you will be able to hit even if its a bit too high or control it fast to then hit it fast. Really he only had to put his foot up about a foot or two and the ball would have hit it then just fell to his feet to just score. As the keeper and defenders were rushing his way, a could see he panicked a bit and kind of rushed about 3 ideas of what he was going to do all at the same time and missesd the whole goals. He tried to control it then score, and he just tried to volley it with his knee, and he tried to control it while volleying it all at the same time. And he missesd. Some times you wonder if he was paid to miss if he ever got the chance, i have thought that a hundred times about football, but deep down thincking no dont be daft its just unheard off in football or any sport. Then i was horrified and felt sick like hundreds of thousands of other football mad players and fans when in 1988 or 89 when brilliant cctv work on big games in england were suspicuse for a while then looked in deeper at games and found that at least 4 players let there team get beat and the other 2 players did the same. 1 goal keeper let the ball just roll past him and into the net. And 1 player could have scored but hit the ball 20 yards wide from 8 yards out and it was the second time in 10 minutes in the same game. For alot of money they admitted they did it for once they were arrested. I never thought that would happen.
