I was about to buy a radiator fan control unit and replace it for nothing then I found something that surprised me

A bad coolant temperature sensor will trigger the fans on too on a Audi A4 B7. Or even unplugging the sensor will trigger the fans on because the ECM thinks the thermostat is closed and it puts the fans on the whole time you have the car on so it doesn't overheat.

This doesnt fix your car! The fan not onky cools the motor but helps to regukate the pressure in the ac by pulling air over the condenser cooling it off, by pulling the ac module fuse it caises the engine to failsafe the fan, running it all the time. If youre overheating only one thing will solve it. Fix your leak pr replace the waterpum/thermostat

This also worked on a 2009 Audi A3 2.0T i have just bought, allowing me to figure out there is nothing mechanically wrong with the fan, but as top comment suggests this is not a fix. Look into thermostat and water pump, hopefully I'll get this car running smoothly

On my 2003 A4 B6 2.0 FSI ( n/a) i had the same problem, but, it wasnt the air con fuse, actually my problem was in the plastic box where is the ECU ( same location as B7) and underneath the ecu, there are 3 RELAYS. because the previous owner did not take care of the car, he broke the plastic cover, and water was getting at the ecu, and shortcircuit my ignition relay, and i had the same symptoms, every time i would turn off the car, the fan would kick in, full speed.

I'm confused. Your problem is that when you put the fuse into fuse slot #1, your fan comes to a stop, correct? My problem is that my fan isn't running at all for some reason. But when I remove the A/C fuse from slot #1, my fan then begins to spin. I could use your help, please. Mine is a 2005 Audi A4 1.8t CVT.

That is correct ! When you remove the AC fuse , the fan will start spinning even when the car is cold . So I guess your fan could be just fine , it’s supposed to start working after the car is supper hot and you are at a stop and th car is running

My fan doesn't spin at all. It was only after I saw this video. That's when I pulled the fuse from A/C slot #1. After that, it started working. But now it just runs all the time. However when I turn the car off, the fan turns off too.

Hi Yeah I have the same problem when I unplugged the AC fuse then fans starts running, otherwise they don’t run and coolant level go down because fans are not working, but without unplugged my AC fuse how can I make my fan running normally??

It's your 3 fusible link from the left coming out of the engine fuse box

only lets you know that your fans do work, and, big indication that the problem is with the Fan Control module.

Pozdrav.Ja imam problem b6 kasno pali ventilator na 103 c .105.I greje se motor kad upali malo radi i slabo.Pod klimom radi.Probali sve od senzora davaca cak i kompjuter.Reostat .Sve na dijagnostici radi ali ne radi kasno pali.Ostaje jos da skinem ventilator vise ne znam sta.Pomoc dobrodosla hvala.

I did that and changed the fuse ut the fans went off again even with a new fuse. Help as the A/C of course is now not working once the fuse is out.

I have very much the same problem of the fan it runs contiunously but not the same car, Even tough it is made by volkswagen. Going to try it hope it's going to fix my car fan radiator problem.

I have 08 Audi A4 2.0. My ac is not blowing cold and my fans are not turning on. I pulled the fuse and my fans turned on but my ac does not work. The whole cluster lost power. Could it be the ac compressor? I replaced the temperature sensors already and the sensor on the compressor and still the fans do not engage once the fuse is in. Does a bad compressor affect the fans engaging?? At this point I'm leaving the fuse off just to keep the car from over heating.

Mine is doing the same exact thing. The fan won’t turn on and AC stuck on Econ blowing hot air. If I pull the ac fuse the fan runs at the highest speed all the time and won’t turn off unless I put the air conditioning fuse back in. Anyone know a fix? Please share. Thanks

i have a audi a4 b6 1.9 tdi and my temp is going up slowly and my fan is staying on as soon as i turn the key.. i changed thermostat water pump n cleaned radiator but i dont know why my temp is going so slowly up

Check a secondary water pump if your car has one , make sure your water pump sensor is giving you the good reading , and if you bought an after market water pump , it might not be good . Also make sure that your coolant system has no air in it . That’s all I could think of but also make sure your AC SYSTEM is working properly

I have a vw polo 1.2 petrol and the radiator fan comes on as soon as I start the engine and stays on at full speed (more than it should as it runs louder too) which causes all the lights to flicker (dash,headlights, radio) and turns off the moment I switch the engine off. I diagnosed and replaced the alternator, the battery and yet I have the same issue. Do you know what could be the cause? P.S. This happens every time I start the engine, even when the engine is cold and the flickering begins only when the fan kicks in.

This problem has nothing to do with the alternator. Make sure that fuse box is not wet . Also check the radiator fan module , and also check the AC system and it’s fuse

Ok This is a good start, but it only solves the fan problem, how do I make my ac blow AND have my fans working? Bc when you pull out the fuse, the fans start working but the AC stops working…

Generally speaking if the computer felt there is a problem with your AC , the fan will start acting up , making sure you have a good fuse is just one element . It could be other components that are for AC , if your AC system is perfect than it’s your fan that is not working properly and generally it’s the fan module but could be other things as well

@@Natalia-vd4od well if the AC doesn’t work , it must be the problem causing the fan to act up . You need to do a diagnostic on your AC it could be : fuse , Freon, wire, condenser etc start in this order and find out what causes the problem. Which city do you live in ??

Start with the fuse and go up till you find the problem with your car, it’s not necessarily the same as other cars

tan james your cooling fans are for the engine, they’re supposed to work only to prevent your car engine from heating up , keep that fuse where it belongs , maybe your ac is not working. If your car temperature stays in the middle , your cooling fans are ok , anyway I would take it to a shop to inspect it before you buy any parts

It’s supposed to stop and it will run only when the car is too hot . The temperature sensor send the msg to ecu and ecu send the msg to fan module and the fan starts blowing. But , I’m not in front of the car I can’t be too sure .
