Back in my day, we called this Cornell 77. And we liked it.

My only complaint is that it ends! I would happily accept more of the Supplication jam! ⚡️⚡️⚡️

I like Supplication a bit better than Lazy Lightning itself. More emotional. I love when Weir comes in with "Well, dizzy ain't the word for the way that you're making me feel now...", with the "Woo, woohoo"s behind him. I find Lazy Lightning a little overloaded with cheesy metaphors. But I do like the chord progression, typical of 70s Weir. A little slick, but self-consciously so.

This is my favourite month/year for their LL-Supplication, and this sounds very crisp (if rather as though they're playing in a large bathroom).

Oh yeah, one of my favorite recordings of this combo, even with the brief audio weirdness. The whole band cooked … and then … Jerry started tossing in his incomparable riffs and, shit, I’m twirling again!!❤

Originally Bob did this with Kingfish, while the Dead were 'on break'. They should have kept it in the rotation because it's so clearly a Grateful Dead song.

First played by the Dead on June 3, 1976. The chord changes frustrate, giving us what we need, not what we want. Jerry's spacey jams. Weir is the Hendrix of rhythm. This is another of his tunes that doesn't sound like anything else: WRS, Estimated, Esau, GSET, Corinna, Victim ... Or is the common thread an enigma code?

I used to have a boot from either the Greek or Red Rocks that was furiously fast and completely insane (Particularly Supplication.) I'm thinkin it was the Greek Theatre '83(??) If anyone knows which one I'm talkin about please lemme know. Sorry for my vagueness.. :)
