My name is Sam and together with my girlfriend Lyanne, I am on a quest to restore the beauty of this old Italian villa from 1895. Join us as we have to let go of our Dutch habits to fit in in our Italian surroundings, were the word 'plan' gets redefined and our tastebuds are awakened.
The goal of this project is to show that with limited financial means and a lot of optimism we can resurrect the beauty of this abandoned villa in a green and sustainable way. But most of all learn from everything that we encounter and enjoy it whilst we're at it.

The ceiling doesn't look like water intrusion to me, more like a massive condensation issue due to lack of insulation. Wash it with vinegar and watch if the spots return. Water intrusion usually leaves brown and yellow spots, often bubbling, and at least the paint falling off, if not the plaster.

We used one in our home and commercial inspection business. Works great but a good pro digital photographs wet areas under the paint showing you the total extent of water intrusion. Once water o Is stopped it will dry out and mold will die. Never use chlorine on any mold as it makes it bloom. We learned the hard way to wear good respirators when I houses with mold. Used to have to do up to 4 rounds of antibiotics to get over bronchitis and pneumonia caused by just being in such houses maybe 30 minutes. A hand held digital thermometer is also handy to find areas where insulation would be useful. You could also get a $20 bore scope from China to help you look inside walls. It's a lot easier than your snake bore scope. You really need to see what's inside those thick walls.

@@Villa_Oliva So why did you pull all of the heating piping and not just get new modern radiators? just asking
@Ragnar8504
@Ragnar8504 20 күн бұрын
@@wayneevans5050 The pipes were fairly crazy and installed in ugly way so I can understand why they removed them but I'd strongly recommend a pellet boiler and new radiators instead of individual stoves. It's much nicer (and cheaper) to have pellets delivered into one storage space with an auger feeding the boiler and taking out the ashes from one boiler every few weeks than buying bags of pellets, carrying them all over the place and removing the ashes from dozens of stoves all the time.

@Villa_Oliva good quality respirator! Mold kills even in it a short time. No need to tear out ceiling unless you find wet insulation above it. Once water is stopped, mold dies and you can spray Kills paint over it. It's made by Zinzer Paints. Sherwin Williams in the US used to have a mildew resistant paint great for bathrooms. But you can get dry mildewside to ad to paint along with a product called Bondit which helps paint adhere to most any surface.

I hope my comment is not going to offend you, I really like you and wish you best of luck. Every time you post new videos I am hopping for something different, unfortunately is the same content, nothing but plumbing issues. Working on the problems with the plumbing is necessary , however is becoming kind of boring in my opinion . If you compare the numbers of views at the beginning and now you will see it. The house is very nice with big potential, people expect to see positive changes. You need to change the focus and start working on something visually satisfying .

I am not offended at all and hope I in turn will not offend you. I am on this journey in which I try to show the reality of what it's like to work on a project like this. Although I work day and night, it is so much work to get everything done. This shows in the process and is exactly what I want to share. I don't want to cover up or misinform on how much effort, energy and time things take when you do them like this. If my goal was viewers and watchtime, i would have to choose a different strategy, i agree. (So thanks for the feedback!) but it's not. I am on this beautiful (in my opinion) journey, and I am sharing it with you all. You are welcome to watch me, or not, but this is what I choose to prioritise. Again, 100% agree with you if my goals where different, but they're not. Thanks again and hope my intentions are a bit clearer. I can understand the process is sometimes not as flashy as other creators who do choose to make more fast paced content. Come back once in a while if it is too slow for you at this point in time :).

Not fully understand the holes and pieces of water tubes? First why so close in the corner? That makes it harder to cross when there are two opposite of each other and second you will build in new lower ceilings to cover the pipes, right, which need corner points to build? Secondly the light and power sockets needs to have seperate pipes, 16 and 20mm do they fit into those water tubes together (you do not really need them as they add hardly any value)? Surely you tested it all, good luck!
