I attended a UU "church" or fellowship for two years. I am a Vedantist. They said you can bring your beliefs about God but expect your beliefs to be challenged because they believe in reason. Being a philosopher that was great as far as I was concerned. Their default creed was scientific materialism which is a belief system and is totally different from science. When I challenged their belief they got so frustrated and even said that mathematics wasn't real. They actually stated that they believe that faith is community, that religion as we know it (including Hinduism) will be non-existent in a hundred years or so. They said they did not adhere to any "transcendental assumption."

I have sad and mixed views of UUism. If you're into community then that is the place to be. Swami Vivekananda said that in India religion is not a key on a keyring but is the keyring on which all other keys are. In UUism, at least in present day UUism, community is the keyring on which all other things fit. I went to their Buddhist study group for two years. In one book we read by Thich N a h t. H a n h (sorry for the spacing, my device is trying to correct the correct spelling of his name!) called Being Peace he recommended discovering a few past lives. The group ignored that. In all other books we read anything supernatural was ignored. When I asked the leader of the group what her beliefs of the afterlife were, she replied "I am a UU first and a Buddhist second." If you want to know what a religion really believes, find out what they teach about the afterlife and what they teach their children. It may be that every UU "church" has its own culture, but in the church I attended I was constantly being attacked for my statements and questionings. They even arranged an "intervention" for me to accept that atheism was at least equal to Theism! But I asked if you can sit and run at the same time, can you screw and unscrew something at the same time? I ended up just being tolerated there. Sri Siddharameshwar Maharaj said that there is no common ground between the atheist and the theist.

@arthur There probably is some wise saying about how the way you approach a question, influences your answer. perhaps, as you observe this particular UU congregation was composed of a majority of people who while still under the umbrella of UU were on the other side of the “theological” spectrum so to speak compared to your footing. if you see a beautiful picture but your neighbor is blind so to speak, why would you expect them let alone be disappointed that they are unable to see?

I started going to church at 28, it was at 40 that I discovered that I was taught wrong about hell. It was at 56 that I discovered I was taught wrong about Jesus. I agree with ALOT of what this man says, but I still wouldn't label myself as a Unitarian. I believe there is truth in Unitarian church, Morman church, christian church, Baptist, Pentecostal ETC. I dont think we will every truly see everything clearly on this earth, but also I strongly believe that as long as there is division, we will be close minded and limit our ability to learn from each other. I believe that we are one body, and we should stop pointing fingers at each other and love one another.

Why would the Christian not want the atheist to be in Church??? Those are just another group of people that we are after. Revealing truth in hope that those seeking will put their faith in the one true God. I’d like to hear more on Mathew 24 and 25 from this church. Don’t call out Christianity and not read from scripture to make your case.

As in the regards of a person not agreeing with something for example LGBT or what ever else is a right to do so in this country along with freedom of speech. like you can think and say what you want equally. That all being said UU has no bases in Jesus Christ which is the foundation of Christianity. So the UU can say what they want but they are not for sure Christian they are spiritual at best.

That's because half the time it's not coming from the Bible but from humanistic teaching which are also part of the living tradition half of the things you hear in the Bible are not appropriate for our modern society so a lot of unitarians are not going to draw from that for example the Bible is in favor of slavery where is our modern society is against it the Bible is in favor of subjugating women and treating them as subservient to men and our modern society isn't the Bible is in favor of torturing and killing anyone who does not conform to the standards of its contents and our modern society isn't what you call a doctrinal issue recall being in favor of what is generally considered moral and ethical Behavior instead of ancient barbaric lunacy

Is tolerance passive? How is this not a do what you want organization? And how serious does this church take truth? How can anyone who challenges their own beliefs not recognize that he is practical saying nothing solid with absolute truth. It just seems that he is basically preaching that you can do as you like here. If that is the case, then why give any reference to the Bible? Jesus spoke on he’ll more than he did heaven. If you don’t think it’s true than read it for yourself! And if there is no eternal punishment than what is the point of Christ’s death? Did Joseph Stalin, the man guilty of slaughtering millions and who witnesses say “shook his fist at God” seconds before dying, go to heaven? Does God force people into heaven against their will? Is Love giving a choice? If that is true than why wouldn’t there be a hell? Out of all the world religious only one has a blood sacrifice for acceptance into heaven. Jesus Christ. And his words offend everyone. Because his words are direct and truthful. And the correct, not politically correct, Jesus is not tolerant of any other way other than his. The Trinity. 1 John 1:1. I can promise anyone who watches this video or is apart of the UU will continue down a blind path, such as I at one point, unless you really seek out real truth. Christ loves you. And love corrects and does not accept unholy things of the world. Please pray and ask God to reveal truth to you as I will ask God as well to help those who are willing to lean in and listen.

The point of UU is to say that there are truths and value in all religions, including yours. That we may, as people with free will, decide what is true for us in all the great vastness of truths is the greatest gift of UU. Your truth is not everyones truth. And that’s okay.
@RobertManningRMvideos
@RobertManningRMvideos 3 жыл бұрын
@@hunterlukas4218 There is only one truth. Just like there’s only one way of truth it absolutely gets scrutinized by the secular world. No other God claims to be the only one and who claims to rise from the dead. This is a God that has taken our place upon the cross. People reject God every day. If people are coming from all sorts of different directions trying to find their own path how would you know which one is actually deceptive? Where would the definition of deceptive fall on in regards to even having a definition in this universe?

“If there is only one way to see then I think we miss the richness” this is dumb. Either Jesus is the only way to God, like the Bible says, or he is not. Either John 14:6 is correct or it is not. There is nothing to learn, but history and error from other religions-including universalist Unitarianism/ Unitarianism. It’s true that there is no one way to be “religious” but Jesus (who is God) clearly states that there is only one way to the father. Read the Bible for your selves. Repent and believe in Gods grace shown through Jesus to world❤️ and that He bore the punishment for your sins❤️
