Done lots of dash pulls. But it is always a blessing to find a video like this to help take it apart faster. Clear concise and straight to the point. I had the dash removed in an hour and a half following your video, thanks!

In the middle of the Evap Core replace now. What a mess! Toyota couldn't have done a better job of designing this Camry around that particular part. Thank you for your help Sir. Couldn't have done it without you!!!!!

how do you release the steering wheel when the car is all apart with no battery connected?
@JRS-iq9pz

I think all cars are being made this way now, were you have to remove the dash. More money for the dealer. They should make the dash a two part piece where you just take one side off and slide out the evaporator.

It may seem like a daunting task but not so bad when putting everything back together. Just make sure you break down sections. i.e. center console, driver side (steering wheel, knee airbag), passenger side (airbag & glove box), dashpad, dashboard support bar, hvac system. Watch out for ac system's explosive pressure.

I had the dealer do it. It was about $2000 parts and labor. I went over it when I got it back and I found some screws not tightened down, some missing and a nut missing. They have to order the missing parts. It does come with a 1 year warranty.

I miss the days, particularly on foreign cars were the evaporator box was bolted separate and you could have it out in 45 minutes now they make it like all cars. Were you got a pull the dash out

Put a smoke machine inside the car and close all the doors. Pop the hood and look for smoke. The smoke will show you where the source of your problem is.

Do you replace the evaporator when is leaking or also if there is a blockage? Not trying to do myself but the mechanic just replaced the compressor and the expansion valve but AC still won’t cool and he told me to take to a specialized shop because I may need to replace the evaporator. Before he replace my compressor I got a reading of 42 on low and 275 on high. I am not a mechanic but I think that is something else.

It is rare, but I have seen evaporator cores that have caused cooling issues. One was a brand new Mopar unit and it wasn't cooling evenly across the evaporator core due to internal restrictions. But your high side pressure is higher than normal at 275psi (depending on testing conditions). On a

@@TechnicianRed it was around 85F. I don’t think the guy replaced the filter. The store I purchased the parts didn’t had it so I ask him to buy. He mention something about cleaning but didn’t charged for the part, I didn’t considered that could be a problem. He mention the line looked to be in the right temperature. I hope this other mechanic can somehow clean obstruction if is the case because the evaporator is ridiculous hard to change. My local Toyota dealer quoted $3500 over the phone. 😳. Any chance you are in Central Florida? 😁

Middle and ending pretty good - beginning segment begins with multiple items already removed - many people that are beginners will be starting off without important visuals. This video is to help someone who may have limited experience and trying to save money from $$$ maintenance bills. Right out of the gate it has already skipped past the beginning stages of removing items in process... I realize this video was put up to try & help people out & also possibly earn an extra income for video, but at least try to start the video at the beginning of the fix process, not after you started earlier and then start video some time later...
