2 ай бұрынOne of the shortest roads in Ilford is Handforth Road, between Winston Way and Clements Road. It is part of the former Cleveland Road between Ilford High Road and Grange Road, which underwent huge change between 1981 and 1983. Cleveland Road still exists south of Winston Way. Its north section is now made up of the dual carriageway, Handforth Road, part of Clements Road and Chadwick Road.

I remember riding my bmx along the dual carriageway as a kid when was being constructed. Great fun!

I know what you mean! I remember walking down the middle of it and having the freedom of a brand new, empty road.

I feel the same way when looking back at these photos and writing the episodes. Even as someone who experienced those days, I look at the images as if the buildings and streets still exist, somewhere, perhaps in an alternate reality.
