I've built a few of these and I must say it never gets old watching these builds. Great job on the shuttle bay and bridge. The shapeways bridge sure does bring out more detail.

Thank you so much! It’s been a blast. Highly recommend the shapeways bridge. I kind of wish I had done the shapeways shuttle bay as well, but with all of the manhandling that I had to do I’m sure it would have broken in half

I like to think that the bulge on the back of the bridge is extra turbolift cars. There has to always be one at the ready for the captain or the first officer. This way other people can come to or leave the bridge and there will still be one ready for the captain.
@geisminiatures10 ай бұрын
That’s totally the way I think of it. Having it off-set has always been strange to me, putting a spare turbo lift in the bulge fixes everything
@victore62429 ай бұрын
The build at the back is for the turbo lift for the bridge. In the STOS Enterprise the bridge is roasted about 23° port.
@mem1701movies9 ай бұрын
@@victore6242no it’s not. Doug DREXLER who worked on STAR TREK TNG and beyond told me that Matt Jefferies told him that the VIEWSCREEN faced forward and the elevator was offset.

I notice you rotated the bridge 36degrees! Interesting choice! Nice looking work.
@geisminiatures10 ай бұрын
Lol it was a judgement call. I like it facing forward more, having it as an angle is a product of framing while filming the show.
@brookestephen10 ай бұрын
@@geisminiatures all the actors were instructed to fall & lunge toward the right whenever the ship stopped, to match the 36 degree rotation!

@@brookestephen No they weren't. As far as the producers were concerned, the bridge faced forward.

@@CaptRobertApril when the romulan weapon exploded, Kirk flew 36degrees to the right, in Balance of Terror
@CaptRobertApril10 ай бұрын
@@brookestephen He flew away from the camera. That's as much thought went into that move. Frankly, if you tried to tell Matt Jefferies that the bridge faced anywhere but straight ahead, he'd look at you like you'd sprouted a second head. The very idea of the bridge of a ship facing anywhere BUT straight ahead would go against everything he believed as an aviator and designer. Same with Navy veteran Bob Justman. The bridge faced forward, what happened behind the walls wasn't their problem. They were making an action adventure tv show, not a NASA documentary. There are also plenty of instances where the ship is coming to a sudden halt (say, "Arena") where the reaction is *straight ahead*.

Very nice work. It's too bad that the original designers goofed with the placement of the Turbolift.

Just curious why you didn't mount the bridge at the 36° offset? Not complaining - your miniature work is astounding. Just wondering.
@geisminiatures10 ай бұрын
No worries! I just made a judgement call, it’s going to be in an exhibit so I figured most people are going to think it looks strange having it offset. I appreciate it!

What lighting kit are you using for this build? Or did you do it from scratch?
@geisminiatures9 ай бұрын
For the navs, strobes, and nacelles it’s the TenaControls 50th anniversary lighting boards. It’s well worth it! Everything else is just a mix of different LEDs
@LuisVazquez-hx3bk10 ай бұрын
The nipple on the back of the bridges section should be aligned with the turbo lift doors. The bridge should be sideways to the left.
@geisminiatures10 ай бұрын
For sure, I’ve seen the blueprints to have the bridge to be an angle but it’s always just been because they decided to have the turbo lift off center for framing while filming. All other bridges faced forwards so I’m cool with it
@msrushing98910 ай бұрын
i did my bridge the same way. I was trying to go with an open turbo lift that would fit in the spot in the back of the bridge but it just wasnt possible for me to drill out enough plastic to make it fit.@@geisminiatures

Can you comment on the part number and/or where you purchased the 0805 strips? I can find 0805 strips, but not thin like you have here.
@geisminiatures6 ай бұрын
Sure thing! I used these from HDAmodelwerks and superglued them right to the shuttle bay. To the get them as tight as possible, I used a grinding dremel attachment to cut a very small canyon to there I glued the strip LEDs hdamodelworx.com/LED-TAPE-0805-WHITE-DOUBLE-DENSITY-600-LEDs-5m-_p_192.html?amp=1
