Fantastic project. I grew up in Connecticut. Every summer as a child in the 70’s, we would spend August in Wisconsin. My uncle and aunt owned a midget. They both worked on the assembly line at Briggs & Stratton, assembling lawn mower engines. Back when companies paid a living wage😂 I spent hours, sitting in the seat, still on the trailer, in the driveway after a evening race. They occasionally placed, but it was always a party......all day long😎

I am stuck there too... normally I am happy to differentiate between red and black. I am learning this electronic stuff since two weeks only for this project. But then I realized how big the possibilities are for future builds. Just start with some tutorials here on KZfaq - it is easy and when I can do that, you can too!

Louise RC Tires are sold in the US under the Duratrax brand, they also give the different names to the same tread designs. I'm not sure what the arrangement might be, why they are sold under different brands within different regions or, if they have the same parent corporation. They are nice tires and wheels and they are now offering many belted tire options. Some of their unbelted tires have (at least in the past) very soft sidewalls and would balloon like crazy. The Duratrax Six Pack MT for example, didn't take high RPM's to turn into pizza cutters. Something else to look out for with Duratrax/Louise tires is dimensions. I purchased the same exact tire rim size, type and model tire as I already had but in the belted version and the outer diameter of the tire was completely different. The rolling circumference of the 2.8" belted tire was closer to the same tire unbelted tire on a 3.8" rim. The 2.8" belted tire was huge compared to its non belted brother. Just pay attention to tire dimensions before you purchase, you may need to research to find this information but don't trust that it would be the same dimensions as you previously expected. Very good and high quality RC wheels, just know what you are purchasing. Speed Treads are nice as well. Also, I'm not sure how or if, they are or are not associated with one another.

Thank you so much for your detailed explanation! I will check that in the future, Lets see how fast we can burn that rubber down...
@TK_Mo
@TK_Mo 3 жыл бұрын
@@timsane I'm excited to see it! I still believe that you should figure out a way to disengage the engine clutch once the electric motor pushes past a certain RPM. I know you are using a smaller pinion for the electric motor and only running 4s voltage and that is wise. My thought however is that you will be happier if you can reach higher RPM's without concern about the engine coming apart. I'm not suggesting that you implement anything yet, but it might be something to think about if you are less than satisfied. Wouldn't simply activating a throttle to neutral position type kill switch at a certain RPM do the trick? You'd have better ideas than I on how to actually get something like that to actually work well.
@DoubleClutchProductions

I accidentally stumbled upon your channel today and I can't express how impressed I am with all the engineering going into an RC car. What can one study to be able to have enough knowledge to know how to design, machine and assemble such projects?

Just start - anywhere, anyhow. Internet is full of knowledge - no need to study anything for hobby projects like this. Thanks !
