I ended up backing the crank torque bolt out again . Putting the tool to lock the phasers in where it was supposed to be and then putting the lock bolt in the block and basically did the same process as the first time but before i tightened the balancer on i made 100% sure the crank was hitting up against the lock bolt. Did it that way and tightened the balancer on and after my 2 cranks it lined up perfectly. Thank you for the videos and for replying. You earned my subscription!

I just had my timing belt replaced at the dealership 2 weeks ago. It's still over there lol. I brought it home for one day and it was doing this weird thing where it wanted to stall out when going into D or R. Only when it was warmed up though. Just got off the phone with them and they said "we are on the phone with Ford engineering trying to figure it".... Oh well... Up to $2000 so far.

I see some people locking the flywheel when torquing the crank bolt. Is that necessary? Or is the cam phaser tool enough to prevent the engine from spinning?

I have a 2015 fusion 1.5. Had rear main seal, water pump, timing belt w/ tensioner replaced. Car started chugging like a lawn mower running out of gas. Only does it when putting a load on, like A/C, or Defrost or even both of those on Max. Eventually it will stall if you let it. Will stop chugging if you turn any of those off. No codes. Idle timing was jumping around. Only did this after timing belt replaced. What do you think it could be?

Question rich. Brought in my 2014 1.5 eco boost fusion. Water pump bearing whine. Was qouted initially $1600 for job. Brought it in and then they wanted to do cam phasers, valve cover gasket and sparkplugs (donut gasket leak) now they want $2900 I held off. Main question is, is the cam phasers really needed? Car has 161,000 miles. I get doing the timing belt and tensioner at the same time but the phasers as well???

Did you try spending the engine backwards just a little bit and then running it back forward right after that to see if the timing tool will fit and if it doesn't what I feel like you're going to have to do is you're going to have to read time your crank gear to the little hole in the front cover and then you're going to have to return your camshaft to the little camshaft tool that goes on the opposite side of the phasers and then you're going to have to loosen your phasers up and re-time them to the tool and lock everything back down

There's a little plug in the back of the block it's a 10 mm when you pull it out you can put a stop that goes in there it's like a threaded stop pin that goes up against the crank and then it through the front of the flywheel there's a hole and that little hole winds up with a hole in the front cover and you can put like a M6 bolt through that into the hole of the front cover and it could help hold plus you could pull the starter out if you wanted to and put a flywheel tool in there to bolt it down I don't know how you only came up with one pin

Yeah that's case-by-case basis on the cam lock on the rear of the cams if you have to pull the injector Rail and the valve cover to get to the rear of the cams for the cam lock bridge I would not do that that's a waste of time but if you have the engine out sure of course I would
@FordBossMe

And it doesn't have anything to do with doing it right the first time because not even the manual calls for that cam lock bridge on the back side if the only thing you're doing is a timing belt with the engine in Chassis So I get that you may do things a certain way but I also do things a certain way and we're going to leave it at that

Hi Boss, I know it's an old video but could I have a question? I have a 2018 1.5 Ecoboost Ford Kuga (Escape). My dealership says that when the timing belt is changed with the water pump, the phasers have to be changed as well as part of the regular timing belt renewal service. My question is whether the phasers must be changed too or only if their condition makes it necessary? Looking forward to your answer an good luck with your new job.

I've seen some conflicting information. From this video I gather that the 1.5 EcoBoost (Escape 2017) does not have a belt in oil, correct? On I Do Cars I saw that a newer 1.0 3-cylinder EcoBoost does have two belts in oil.

I don't understand what's conflicting the 1.5 L in the 1.0 L are two different engines and yes the 1.5 L is a drive belt the 1.0 L is a wet belt and the oil pumps are always failing on the 1.0 L by 30 40,000 Mi because of that wet belt system

@@FordBossMe Thanks. My description wasn't worded well. I tried to find out if the 1.5 4-cyl had a wet belt. Some say that it does. Your video seems to indicate that it doesn't. My motivation for learning about this, is because Ford made this mistake on a different, newer engine and thought maybe they've been doing this for a while. I wanted to learn more about what's in my car which is the 1.5 4 cylinder. I know it has its issues with the head gasket near the space between cylinders, and the oil in the intercooler. But no wet belts, that's a relief!

With the high gas prices, some people have been running their vehicles into empty. Make a video telling people why that is a horrible idea and the problems/costs involved when you run it dry. The tank guage can be a thermresistor that needs to be cooled by fuel -that can burn out. Sucking up debris from bottom of tank etc.
@jasonkool535
@jasonkool535 2 жыл бұрын
The pick up for your fuel tank is in the bottom most sump area of the tank. If there is debris in your tank, full or not, the pump will suck it up. True, the fuel acts like a cooling agent for the pump and running it low causing aeration of the fuel can shorten the life of a fuel pump, but, if there is debris in your tank sitting on the bottoms, it's going to get sucked in no matter what level of fuel is in it. 20 years as a professional mechanic I have taken thousands of tanks apart for fuel pump replacement, typically, the only debris in them, is from the small amount of dirt I let get in there during the re&re process and that was always cleaned out before returning the tank back into service. Unless sabotaged by an angry ex,,,,,,most fuel tanks don't carry debris in them anymore, thus, why manufacturers got rid of the inline fuel filter on vehicles over a decade ago. Early years of vehicles sure, debris in tank dislodged, nowadays, urban legend

I appreciate your knowledge. I’m working on one of these motors, the 1.5 Ecoboost on a 2015 Ford Fusion SE. It was given to me with a crank no start condition. Would just crank but never start. So I checked for spark and got nothing. Was told by a tech to check the high pressure fuel pump anyway and so I took it off and replaced it but as I was putting it back I tried to follow your video and turn the cam to a flat spot. Well to my surprise, the cam lobe wouldn’t move. So I’d found the issue. Fast forward to today, I got it torn down to the cam phasers and when I took off the caps to the phasers, I found the bolts were both loose and snapped in half. Which is why the cams weren’t turning. Have you ever seen this? And do you know why it would happen? If you see this or read it I’m grateful, thank you.

Also, one last question if I may. I see there are oil seals that sit there around the end of the cams. Does that mean there should be no oil on the bolts themselves when I take them out. Because they have a lot of oil on them and some sludge..
@FordBossMe
@FordBossMe 2 жыл бұрын
Yes oil is supposed to be on the bolts that's normal the fact that you see sludge in the vehicle probably wasn't taken care of very good tells me that there's probably some major damage done to those valves to the camshafts to the bearing surfaces would probably ended up happening is the timing slipped kiss the valve Spent A Rod or something like that and now you have the result of all the chaos
