My dad died of cancer 5 years ago and he left me his 2000 Toyota 4Runner. I didn’t really have much use for it but I kept it as a second car for sentimental reasons. He took such great care of it and I’ve also kept it in top condition. It only has about 100,000 miles and it doesn’t even have a scratch. Interior looks brand new too. Reminds me of my dad whenever I get behind the wheel. I’m a Toyota convert and will only buy Toyotas

This video is more than just about a truck; it's about the extraordinary bond between a man and his machine, a testament to Mike's incredible journey and a symbol of human resilience. The 1.6 million-mile Tacoma isn't just a feat of engineering; it's a chronicle etched in every mile, every dent, and every repaired part, each contributing to a legacy that transcends automotive history. It's only fitting that it finds a home in a showroom, but in truth, it holds a place in the hearts of everyone who heard its story. The Tacoma is a material testament to an immeasurable spirit - Mike's spirit. Let's keep his memory alive by sharing this story, inspiring future generations to value simplicity, longevity, and genuine human connections. RIP Mike, you've left tracks on this world far beyond the miles on your odometer.

Wow! I just happened to see this & clicked on it. RIP Mike, what an awesome story! I bought a 05 new in October of 04. I loved that truck. It was destroyed in August 2022 in multiple car pile up in Richmond Virginia. It had 297, 862 miles. In the 18 years I owned it, it only needed a fuel pump at 270,000 is. It was a Silver Prerunner. It was literally like burying a family member. One of the best over built trucks ever made.

I'm a Toyota Hilux owner since 2004. My first truck went up to 800K kms before I decided on a new vehicle so I sold it. It was probably one of the worst thought out decisions I had ever made. I redeemed myself and bought a new Hilux 3 years ago. My point is Toyota trucks or pickups as they're known in my part of the world will last ages if you take care of them and Mike's Taco here is testament to that.

RIP Mike. It’s rare to see a vehicle survive their owner in this manner. My father and I drive his 2007 Tacoma 4-cyl access cab still, but we only have 160k miles on it. One day, I will have to make a pilgrimage to North Carolina to check this truck out. I’ve driven that Tacoma in all kinds of weather conditions and it has always been a dependable truck. My 2007 Tacoma has been in 4 accidents, none of them my fault, but the engine and trans are still all original.

This makes my heart so happy. Mike was always so proud of his truck and being the owner of a blue Tacoma as well I get his passion. He worked for me for several years and was such a dedicated man. He is missed. Thanks so much for making this final chapter for him.

It is not always easy to find a good employee like Mike. He treated his truck like he treated people it seems like.

I have an 07' Scion Tc with 200,000 miles. It's an icebox in the summer, and I've NEVER been stuck in snow of any kind, and we live in Massachusetts. I have confidence, that it will last 500,000 miles, because I've changed the oil every 3,000 miles since it's purchase, and it still has very strong torque. There's some rust, and it's dirty, but I wouldn't trade it for any other automobile. So far the only repairs, have been a steering column, that went bad the first 6 months, which was covered for a $50 deductible on the warranty, and an alternator, that's it

I have a 2003 toyota tundra v8 access cab and it has 300,000 miles on it. It's the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. It was actually the first vehicle I ever owned. Only big maintenance I have had to do on it is replace the radiators and replace a o2 sensor

This video was good on so many levels! For one thing, it was totally cool of you to keep in touch with Mike all these years since you sold him the truck in the first place. And for the truck to go back to the dealership for display, well, that was just perfect! My assumption is that legally, title-wise, that the truck went to YOU, Jeff, and that it is you who are letting it be viewed in the dealership. To me, I think that would be great because as we have seen, you did a good thing with it. That old saying "when life gives you lemons, just make lemonade", is so relevant here. Mike died, which is the "lemon", and you made "lemonade" out of it and honored him at the same time. Literally poetry in motion! I also think it would have been cool to get video of his widow talking about the truck and telling you in her words, about how it was that Mike came to leave you the truck, although we know from what you told in the video. In any case, as someone else here wrote, whoever thought that a Tacoma video could be so heartwarming!!!

This Tacoma makes my 657,000 mile Honda Accord seem like it has low miles! Great video, I remember hearing about this specific Tacoma before in one of the other videos. Sad to hear he passed away, but I'm glad it gets a spot of honor on the showroom floor.

There were 880,000 miles on the first engine when the head gasket failed. The second engine already had 100,000 miles when it went into the truck and Mike drove it another 745,000!! In addition, the original 4 speed automatic transmission went 1.2 million miles. Too bad the 2.7 engine is leaving our market when the new Tacoma makes it debut.

@apatheticempathy 0 seconds ago Shame the damn 2010 Prius engine didnt last like this one. I know many 2o10 Prius owners with the same damn problem. It knocks and burns oil with a mere 200,000 miles and Toyota will NOT fix or correct anything !
