1 Acre Horse Fence - Episode #1: Getting Started

We started on our 4 board Kentucky Horse fence. 1 acre of pasture will be fenced off for the rescue horse we are adopting and another companion pony we are buying. We are putting in 110 wooden posts and over 3500 linear feet of wooden fence rails. In this video we get our first short run of posts in the ground along the driveway. We also quickly get a tall wire fence put up around the garden to keep the deer out.
Who We Are: A family building a Ranch from Scratch in the Ozark mountains of Arkansas - Jason, Kristen and our daughter Makayla. We are learning as we go, day by day and week by week, picking up the skills to know in order to grow, our food, our minds, our soul.

I would have laid out the post positions first, with paint “X” marks, then pulled the trailer along the fence line, dropping off each post next to where they would go. That would have eliminated moving each post twice.

I sure wish I could find some post like that in my area. Been to all the feed stores, lumber outlets and everything between and can’t find anything anywhere close to that nice.

make it easy on yourself and use pea gravel. no concrete necessary, no rotting posts and holds without guy wires or braces........g
