Clay is just an awesome man! Fan friendly, a good race car driver, and obviously loves what he does for a living. He once gave me 10 minutes of his time in the pits and answered all of my questions. Very happy he won this race.

You talkin' about David (?) squatting 1k, (which IS a bunch for a sub 200 #r), reminded me of something incredible I saw in the '70's & haven't thought of for nearly 40 yrs. I was an undergrad at Oregon in the PE dept, learning to be a PE teacher, as a pathway to & requirement for a minor in Sports Medicine. Because of where I was & what I was doing, I knew athletes from both classes & the training room. For a couple of yrs, the Women's Track team had a 100/200m sprinter named Carol Amarol. She was a 98# sweetie from Cali & a good friend of mine. I happened to be in one of the secondary PE buildings where the Women's Ath Dept weight room was located, (this was pre Title IX & mandated equality for women's athletics, evrrything was duplicated. Not equal, just doubled. The men had multiple huge weight rooms, tons of equipment, free weights, everything, the single women's weight room was in an old classroom had a few free weights & a Universal Gym. That day, I saw Carol on the U Gym, so I dropped in to say hi. She was doing leg work & she came around to do sitting leg presses as I walked up. This girl was 5'1" on her tallest day & according to her, hit 99#'s at "monthly full bloat". She sits, plugs the weight pin where she wanted it & proceeds to start her set. I didn't pay much attention to where she set it until the stack of weights moved. I was gobsmacked. When her set ended, I asked, where'd you set the weight? Max... oh, I've been meaning to ask, mebbe you know, can they increase the weights in these things? I... don't... know... but, uh, I find out for you... Max on a Universal gym back then was 975#. I watched that 98 # girl do 3 sets of 10 at max.
