#1 Best Soup Dumplings in Taipei City (XIAOLONGBAO) Must Eat Taiwanese Food

TAIPEI, TAIWAN - Din Tai Fung is famous in Taiwan and across the world for soup dumplings (xiao long bao). I had never eaten them before and I couldn't leave Taipei without eating xiaolongbao. I knew how xiao long bao are made but I did not know how to eat Taiwanese soup dumplings. Little did I know how amazing these Taiwanese xiao long bao would be. They are so delicious that I could not stop eating them. Taiwan street food is good but these are right up there with the best dumplings I have ever tried. Most people go to Din Tai Fung, it is famous and many people say that they are the best xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) in Taiwan. I ate there too but this place Li Yuan, for me was better. They might not be as delicate as the soup dumplings at Din Tai Fung. But the flavour was incredible and I should mention that they were much cheaper than Din Tai Fung and came without the very long queue. If you do want to eat at Din Tai Fung as well, I recommend Din Tai Fung At Taipei 101.

You forgot the ginger slices. The way to use that: put the ginger slices into a sauce dish, just add soybean sauce. Let the ginger soaked in for a few minutes (eg. The time between placing order and meal served.). Don't put the dinsum direct into your sauce dish, you might increase the risk of breaking it and losing all of the broth. Just put it on your spoon like what you did in the video, enjoy the soup, then get some of the soaked ginger slices on the dinsum and Wala. This way you can get a good control of the saltiness and flavor.

This place looks great! I will definitely visit, am going to Taipei over Christmas. Din Tai Fung is fantastic but extremely popular, queues are way too long..

you must! It was so good! You are right, I did eat at Din Tai Fung but I had to wait nearly 3 hrs... I don't think it was worth that.

Dim sum is actually specifically for Cantonese style dishes, you can say it's Cantonese tapas. However, xiao long boa or soup dumpling is not considered a dim sum dish. It's from Shanghai. Completely two different places. It's common to see soup dumplings offered at most dim sum places nowadays because it's just too popular.

It's a good choice to pick 犁園 instead of 鼎泰豐，鼎 is too high cost and too normal flavor.

Dim Sum is not Taiwanese, it’s Cantonese. Dim Sum entails an array of Cantonese small dishes including classic steamed dumplings, Siu Mai, roast meat (Siu Mei), Radish Cake, Cheung Fan (Rice noodle rolls), etc. Dim Sum is a very Cantonese concept of eating so please don’t mis-use this term. The typical places that serve Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings in Taiwan are not Dim Sum restaurants. They are simply Xiao Long Bao or Tang Bao restaurants.
