Alakazam has a towering IQ of 5000. As long as pokemons can hold off the lions, this pokemon can easily think of a plan to win the fight easily. Another thing is that ghost-type pokemons have an immunity against some of the moves a lions can make, except for their bite which is dark-type.

This fight is more like a tower defense idea than a real fight, like not even using legendaries, fly, ghost stuff, like how the hell the billion lions could k a ferrothorn?!? A iron plant that can heal from enemies with leech seeds, that is somewhat small supper tanky and can climb caves so literally can fall on lions heads if he is tired of being inmortal

In the game scenario, the pokemon win because of stage hazards. Spikes, toxic spikes, stealth rock, etc. have no duration limit. The lion would enter combat, be dispatched, and cycle to the next lion and repeat. And this will 100% work due to the number of pokemon that can place hazards.

you said that the lions COULD win when we talking game rules but.. no. Even if the Pokémon could only use 4 moves and could run out of PP, there are still moves like: "Earthquake, Dragon Pulse, Surf, Muddy Water, yadeyadeyada.." moves that hit multiple targets and would absolutely fucking destroy the lions and if not the Pokémon would have enough PP to make sure it does. And if some idiot wants to say "Noooo those moves only hit two targets!" then let me remind you of triple battles, proving that the moves hit as many targets as possible, the pokemon just needs to be close, a Pokémon could easy just spam some of those moves and slowly make way, or go in the middle use a move like that and kill maybe most of those lions and I am only speaking about one unspecific Pokémon. So even if we take away the lore stuff the lions have less than a zero chance of surviving, the ONLY possibility of the lions winning is if the Pokémon would start attacking eachother, but that shouldn't count for the lions, because the lions wouldn't do anything, plus lions would attack eachother too, so lions don't win in ANY scenario. With some research, I actually calculated how an Excadrill could wipe the floor with every damn lion on the battlefield. At max power, Excadrill could whip up a magnitude 46 to 55.2 Earthquake. Without the Swords Dances that are involved in the calcs, it comes down to a magnitude of 11.5 to 15. I don't think even that's survivable by any means.

I feel like the details with "pp stalling" doesn't make sense cause it's just quantifying how many times a pokemon can do something. Tackle has 45pp because you can kinda just slam into someone 45 times before you get tired. Flamethrower has 16pp simply because it takes lots of energy to make fire

If we are talking lorewise, 90% of legendaries and mythicals solo, and even some non legs like magcargo and gardevoir can also solo. If we are talking using pokemon game mechanics then any pokemon with a move that hits everyone on the field instantly wins.

Even with game logic the lions don't stand a chance due to the existence of rock, steel, flying and especially ghost types. Lions are not pokemon and therefore don't have types, so a lion bite would not be dark type and therefore would not hurt a ghost. In fact, lions attempting to hurt ghosts and rocks and actual steel would have about the same results as if a human were doing it. Nothing would happen and the pokemon wouldn't even need to do anything. And of course the flying types can just fly. 1 billion is not even that much. That's the entire country of India. Just gather all the pokemon that can use surf and earthquake to create a super ultra mega tsunami to wipe it clean off the map.

Honestly I think that for the most part, powerscaling doesn't really matter for this matchup. Anyone can tell you that a pokemon is way stronger than a lion. But, and I know this is one of the meme lines for this fight... A billion lions IS a lot of lions. Like the video said, it's 1 million to 1. Each pokemon, on average, needs to kill 1 million lions. Is Caterpie killing a million lions? No. Is Smoliv gonna kill one million lions? No. Sure, Charizard can kill 100 lions with a single flamethrower, but that's only 0.01% what it needs to do just to pull its own weight. And think of the size of this battlefield- even if you pack all the lions together as closely as reasonably possible, they're gonna take up like a large country's worth of space. This isn't a fight that's over in a few hours, this is days or weeks, maybe even longer, of the pokemon having to fight 24/7. Even if lions can't fly, most flying pokemon will have to land eventually. I'd personally stick to like, anime/movie powerscaling for the pokemon. So no, Magcargo isn't going to just instakill anything that ever gets near it, and Arceus isn't just going to blink and erase everything. (also, Yveltal's range was never infinite. Arguably it'd be a draw anyways.) In other words, this is a battle of attrition. The important pokemon here are the ones that reasonably could just sleep through the lions' attacks and not care. Because of those pokemon specifically, I still give this to the pokemon, but it IS close. Probably less than a dozen pokemon left alive by the end. And it'd be that way by like, the 10 million lion mark. (Like, how are lions gonna kill a Steelix? And Arceus probably actually doesn't have to come down ever) I mean, if we use pure lore it's an obvious stomp for pokemon. But if we use what we actually SEE pokemon do, either in games or in anime, it isn't. There are a few pokemon that just simply cannot be killed by lions, no matter how long the fight goes on, and that's the deciding factor.

Every time I'm asked this, I side with the pokemon every time. I've read the pokedex. Even disregarding legendaries and ultra beasts, even the regular pokemon can still be hella dangerous. Mimikyu is eldritch-coded. Most fire types get hotter than the sun. Electric types and poison types simply exist and things die. Gardevoir - who is in the thumbnail - CAN CREATE FREAKING BLACK HOLES. Tyranitar destroys mountains and Salamence has a notoriously horrific attitude.

Magnezone would easily solo because: 1. It can fly 2. Because it’s a robot and uses magnets to fly, it wouldn’t get tired out from flying. 3. It is made out of metal so even if the lions managed to get to it, it could just tank it. 4. It has loads of ranged moves so it can just pummel all the lions from the sky.

Better question, which side would the pyroar line, solgaleo, (and maybe the luxray line) choose?

Any pokemon with the iron barbs ability (thinking ferroseed and its evolution in particular) and is a steel type is also effectively invulnerable to bone teeth and chitin claws, so each one of those will get millions of kills without using ANY pp

Even if we did take moves into account, then an argument can be made that all game mechanics work as well. So just give some Pokémon a leppa berry, slack off, and recycle and it’s basically unkillable by scratches and bites. You can also go a lot farther by using spread moves to your advantage.

How did this argument even gain traction? This is pretty cut and dry. A. Can Lions effect flying, Ghost Rock, steel by default? B. Posion would be suicide for a lion generally at minimum. Is there a water body for undersea water types? Because it is lop sided for water types if so if not, 1/3ish waters are hindered heavily. Crazy lore feats can solo the lions by themselves in some cases. C.Even ignoring legendaries this battle isn't close. D. Even around gen 6 or 7 where this question first started rising.

To be fair, the people who side with lions say "Oh the pokemon would lose PP and struggle," but it depends how your putting the battle. In pokemon terms, the lions would need pokemon stats, moves, etc. And it seems it would be in a multi-battle, so PP doesn't matter, just use moves that hit more than one pokemon. If it was real world, the pokemon would loose PP and moves and such, and since their's no game limit or lore limit, the lions are clapped either way. Also uh, if Yveltal dies, then EVERYTHING on the planet dies. Pokemon can just go to space.

At minimum you would have to say that the pokemon are also allowed to use advanced strategies which probably opens up some ridiculous shit. More seriously most people arguing for the lions will say that pokedex lore shouldn't be counted because these feats do not make sense in the games or anime which... fair considering how insane some of them are.

Magcargo. Probably wouldn’t solo the lions due to limited mobility, but the lions have literally no way to deal with it. Just that one Pokemon existing means the best the lions could hope for is a tie. And that’s giving the Pokemon side the same handicap you gave them in this video.

Something I will always standby is that Pokémon can absolutely decimate lions in every way you grade them. Dex entries? There are scary amount of Pokémon who’s very existence is a death sentence. Just to name a few: Gradevoir creates black holes, the Slugma line are supposedly hotter than the surface of the sun, and Shedinja just has to spin around to kill every single line that sees it in an instant. Anime logic? Even if you exclude the legendaries and ultra beasts, many Pokémon with anime logic could take on a few thousand SOLO with the kind of attacks they are seen tanking. Game logic is a bit more tricky cause how “game” are we talking and what would the lions move set and stats look? If it’s an all out war that follows game logic (like hordes but more than 5) then just a couple multi target attacks and all the lions are dead. Is it 5v5, horde v horde? Only if they have an answer for ghost types, which is only if they are allowed bite. Even then, significant potions can be removed with multi target attacks. As the number of combatants lower the chances of lion victory increases, but is again limited by if their bites count as the move bite. Overall, the only way the lions win is with a strict game format with stats comparable to an actual Pokémon and maybe access to bite (I haven’t actually run the calculations on how much total PP each side would have and I’m not going to because that’s a lot of math).

A while ago, I imagined a team of 6 that can beat them all... And to push it further, I went with no legendaries and even monotype with my last choice being half as a joke. Lions never stood a chance and they never will. And whatever strategy and/or argument the lions believers will bring up can easily be busted.

Lion needs number advantages, no friendly fire advantages, infinite food & water advantages, pokemon don't hide & runs away advantages, no overpowered pokemon advantages, smart advantages, good teamwork advantages, can survives in any arena advantages. Lion can't wins without all of these advantages.

I want to say that in the PMD series, there's a base "tackle" move that requires no PP, so even if a pokémon runs out of PP for it's 4 moves, it'll still have that base one.

Something I feel is kinda brushed off is how at least in the anime and manga (not games because then the Strat of stacking helping hands with a spread move would automatically win) is how a Pokémon’s ability to use a Move can vary based on the training they’ve received although unless you decide every single Pokemon is as weak as possible this likely wouldn’t matter
