Episode 18 from the series 46 1 Corinthians - 2021 with Skip Heitzig. Watch the complete series: • 1 Corinthians - 2021
Raising the dead isn't difficult for the God who created life to begin with. Jesus' resurrection provides the template for the physical resurrection of the saints. The apostle Paul explained the significance of the resurrection to our faith in 1 Corinthians 15-if Christ is not risen, our faith is futile. In this teaching, Skip Heitzig reminds you of the hope you can find in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
This teaching is from the series 46 1 Corinthians - 2021 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.

Pastor Skip and the Calvary Of Albuquerque church family are growing and improving decade after decade. The work of our LORD in this church is so evident. Praying that Skip continues to improve the teaching and detailed explanation of the Good News daily. You, through the help of our LORD, are reaching more people around the world than can even be comprehended. Calvary Church is the a living church. I pray that God continues to bless Calvary Of Albuquerque Pastor Skip and their other the pastors like Mat, who is also incredible. Well done! I cannot wait to see what God is going to do with Calvary Of Albuquerque next. We are so blessed to have you to look to for the answers of the Bible. My goal throughout my life has always been to bring someone to Christ. Last week I converted my first agnostic friend with my testimony last week. I couldn’t have done it without this awesome church and Pastor Skip’s sermons. So grateful! Thank you Pastor Skip. 🙏☺️✌️

Hi Robin! Thank you for watching our videos! We apologize for the inconvenience as those last few verses in chapter 14 got cut off. Attached below is a link to an older teaching from Pastor Skip where he covers those last few verses of chapter 14. calvarynm.church/teachings/#/compilation/51 - click this link to be directed to our teaching library. From there you should be able to see the teaching titled 1 CORINTHIANS 13-14 with the date to the left 3/21/2001. When you find it click "Download" on the right side of the title. Once downloaded you will have an MP3 audio download of the teaching, Pastor Skip addresses verse 34 sometime after 44 minutes. For more information on the topic addressed in verse 34 of chapter 14 we would encourage you to check out this article - www.gotquestions.org/women-silent-church.html. Hope this helps! - Miguel R. I disagree with Skip on a number of things but he is right on this one. Our English Bibles are not the best sources of doctrine. The word eikē is used 6 times in the New Testament but there are secular writings where the adverb is also used. In some Greek lexicons, eikē is translated as "for nothing" or "in vain". But we need more. Since we don't have enough information on the exact meaning of eikē from the lexicons, especially as to what "in vain" actually means, we can turn to other Greek writers. Xenophon's, Aeschylus's, and many others' uses of eikē, translated by secular authors with no doctrine to defend (and thus less bias), are translated more or less as "without purpose" or "without a method." Marcus Aurelius's Mediations, 12:20 is translated "without a purpose." I could list dozens more but all of them lean towards "without a purpose" as the main theme around the word as it is used in various phrases. And Paul is telling the Corinthians that if there is no resurrection, there is no purpose to their believing. Eat, drink, for tomorrow we die. I would go into pistos but suffice to say that all the way back to Aristotle the word means to logically be persuaded that something presented is true. Aristotle was referring to how the mind accepts philosophical arguments, and gave the word a strict definition to explain how one accepts such arguments. Faith in the gospel, that Christ died for our sins and that he was resurrected from the dead for our justification, means that we are persuaded in our minds that the facts of this gospel are true. If you hold fast" the word I preached to you. Actually, "the word I preached to you" in not found in any manuscripts. Katecho is indeed a transitive verb, and it needs an object. Since there is no object in the manuscipts, and this phrase is obviously a form of Ellipsis, the words must be supplied from the context. So translators decided that Paul was referring to the gospel he preached, and added "the word I preached to you" as a logical object. It's a minor nitpick, but it demonstrates that a lot of our English versions leave much to be desired.

Revelation 14 , speaks of the 144 000 as being redeemed from the earth , and are first fruits , so how does that fit , also the Tribulation Martyrs? , We see them in chp 7

I actually came here for this specific verse and It really speaks to me that you had this question as well! 1 corinthians 15 is one big argument for the resurrection, and the fact that Paul uses baptisms for the dead to argue for the resurrection instead of the other way around shows us that this was a practice done in the early church. Purely by the way it was so nonchalantly brought up means he felt like there was no need to explain it. However the practice of baptisms for the dead is still done today in the restored church of jesus christ. All around the world lds temples are being built so members can go and baptize for the dead. I’d like to clarify that we did not get the doctrine from this verse in the bible, it is rather found in doctrine and covenants 128. It then rather is an exquisite suprise to see that Paul had the same underdtanding of this doctrine. The doctrine answers many questions about people who never had the chance to hear of the gospel in this life and they still have a chance to be baptized in the spirit world. If you would like to know more about our church just message me! Online you will find many people opposed to the lds church but I testify of its fullness and my testimony comes from revelation through the holy spirit. We just have so many more answers because we have the fullness of the gospel. I don't want to take away anything from other churches because I think we are all so like minded in our pursuit of growing closer to christ and there is no need to start bible-bashing about who is right and who is wrong, we are all on the same team. But hopefully if you read d&c 128 may answer your questions pertaining to baptisms for the dead, even though it may not be of your church
