Finding the best deer call is not an easy task, and the choice should also include the potential of NOT spooking deer in your favorite state to hunt. Not all hunting lands are created equal! The more deer hunting pressure that you have in your area, the less aggressive calling tactics that you can use. If you have very little hunting pressure, than you can throw any kind of deer call at a big ole monster buck. Here is the most consistent, #1 deer hunting call on the planet...
To make sure that you get the most calling deer on your private deer hunting land hunting, check out my latest land design web class at:
www.whitetailhabitatsolutions...
Before you even buy a deer call and head to the woods to hunt, make sure to use my weather forecast rut hunting predictions thru HuntCast, at:

Absolutely! I'm in NJ and I don't even waste my time with calls. Too much pressure and very educated deer. My personal best is 160" 6x4

I never go in the woods without a bleat call and a grunt call. I've called in so many deer with both that I know it works and you are right about the low impact. A lot of the times they just ignore it but when it works, it works and I have a few nice bucks because of them. Great video.

Hey Jeff, I used this technique and morning sit last week to fill my last tag on Halloween. I had 2 bucks just sparring out in the field. When one started to get too aggressive the other would back off, let things calm down a bit and then spar again. I used a mild doe bleat with an occasional light buck tending grunts. The buck turned and came right in.

Great video Jeff, I use the flex tone you recommended (but didn’t advertise 😉) to me last year. I hunt Michigan so lots of pressure. Aggressive calling has worked one time for me to bring them in, that’s it. But a couple short grunts every now and again has been way more effective and doesn’t seem to scare the does off.

Not sure if you'll see this or not but I got another nice buck this year with the help of your channel. I was getting discouraged about my morning sits because I just wasn't seeing nice bucks, but then I remembered you saying in multiple videos how much they move in the morning. I went out Monday evening sitting over the most sign I've ever seen in one spot. Had 7 huge scrapes within 20 yards of each other and every tree in that area was rubbed up. I went back Tuesday morning and shot my biggest bow buck yet. It was a really nice 9 point. Thanks for the videos, entertaining and educational.

That’s neither here nor there but, was hunting high pressure this morning doing a little grunting and a buck walked up on me at my back, down wind of me, completely opposite from where I was watching. Very true, day break this morning I had something happen that never has before. Just inside the wood line overlooking a large overgrown field, I could make 2 deer out. The one in the back considerably larger, so I hit the grunt tube aggressively for a few seconds. The larger deer immediately turned in my direction and started moving quickly towards me for a bit. Then I lost it until it popped out 15 yards away and came literally to the base of my tree. Just one problem it was a mature doe with a fawn. CERTAINLY PINPOINTED ME! SHE MUST BE LOOKING FOR A MATURE BUCK TO BREED

Deer do not look up that often, but they can pinpoint sounds and find you 20' in the air in your tree stand if you are too excessive with grunts and rattles, especially if you are on a hill. Start out quiet and wait.

I still have two true talkers. Lot of action with them. This year I actually was grunted in by my buck. I was watching a doe and I heard him grunting from quite a distance away. He didn’t stop till he got to her. She barely paid any attention to him, so you know the sound is natural for them. He did not die a natural death. I was ready because he gave away his position and it cost him. By the way, thanks for all the videos tips and advice over the years. I used your info to set up my little 20 acres and kept reminding myself to slow down and hunt like the deer is trying to kill me. Never got busted or looked at and harvested my #1 buck a huge 12 pt. I honestly would have had that new little property so screwed up without all your small parcel tips let alone had the desire to even buy such a small property. I found an Southern Ohio parcel that was the valley between 3 large long mountains. I felt if done right I could reap the benefit of all that acreage without having to buy it. Can’t thank you enough. So glad you whacked Kermit. Can’t wait for the story.

Grunted in a buck with a trailing doe a week ago. He was following my scent lure trail. But he was a lil 4 so I let him walk. Last year I actually grunted in a doe. In the thick of the rut, by accident. My hang out hunting spot is very brushy and thick so I will let off a small cadence every 30-40 mins and this doe came RUNNING out of a big cedar thicket. Rut is picking up and its fun as hell! Watching them is ALMOST as much fun as taking them. Almost...

@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 To each his own. I don't like the cans and find the bleat perfect replacement and do like the rest of the tones as well for New England. ALSO, I watched a vid from the company stating the reed can sometimes develop a memory when stored in the bleat position instead of the grunt. It does open up and you can bend the reed a bit of you need to tune it. Not trying to sell you on it; maybe it'll be a good backup to your backup if it can sound as you need it to. As a East Tennessee hunter, this video is absolute truth. Our ratio I believe is 9:1 does to bucks. Doe bleat and buck grunt are the only ones that may get some attention. Our bucks don't have to fight for any doe. There's more than any buck can handle. Our 1st rut is maybe one week that doesn't seem like lockdown. Our 2nd rut is best time to be in the woods.

Hey Jeff, thanks for another great video. What are your thoughts on calls like the Extinguisher? Where should that reed be when grunting, as a general rule? I am hesitant to have the grunt be too aggressive due to the lack of real mature bucks that I personally have encountered here in Maine. I usually run it mid-range to play it safe.

Hey Jeff I appreciate all the great content! Could you do a video on what to do when you spook deer walking to your stand? Do you leave the area? Go on to the stand? Move to a different stand? I would love to hear your opinion on this

Deer get spooked a lot next time grunt at them and back out slowly. Drop corn where you spooked them as a apology. Then wait two weeks and come back

Grunted in a cool looking PA 9 point today. : ) Sat one hour, grunted 3 times and he came like a laser out of the woods from the other side of a 200 yard field.

@@kevinkurdes2480 I called in an 8 point to 34 yards and he was looking at me trying to make me and the only shot was right behind the shoulder broadside. I was on the ground and I didn't have enough confidence in my arrow not hitting a branch I couldn't see as happened to me before and the deer left and I called him back again but this time straight on. If he had a gun I would be dead twice.

My buddy killed a really nice 8 point st clair co MI off a decoy yesterday. A lot of thought went into the set up and fine details played a role. He actually knew the buck was only gonna come with a visual. The deer was not able yo get down wind before getting shot.

Literally 30 minutes ago I rattled in a huge ten pointer and he came charging in like a mad bull. Unfortunately an arrow didn't fly but it was exciting to see

Hey Jeff for one Michigan boy to another Michigan boy you are spot on brother the other night I was sitting in a cornfield Southwest wind had a nice 2 and a 1/2 year old 9 point come out he was check and doze I give him a soft grunt disappeared didn't see him 20 minutes later hes on the opposit side of me. He did not get my wind but he was definitely aware something was off. I grunted 3 more times to aggressively and he turned and went backup into the bedding area. It's been so exciting this year seeing 4-5 different 2 and a 1/2 year olds in one I believed to be a 3 and a 1/2 year old. In for some reason I have the only corn up for like almost 3/4 of a mile in any direction. What a game changer.. Farmer started cutting corn last night I'm sure he'll have it down by this weekend. There goes my quality Hunting, but its been fun

Mike Rex holds the Athens county record in Ohio. He uses a decoy sometimes and he says that you can’t use one in the woods because deer don’t like the surprise of walking up on it, but they will come to it if it’s in a open field
