Dogs are the perfect creation - excepting that they do not live long enough. People who value, appreciate, treat well and love dogs are wonderful human beings. The rest of the world is a sad, egocentric and predatory place to exist. I know I am lucky to have known, and still have, the best dog(s) in the world.......( and your's too!)

i too did an adoption 15/16 years ago. the "plan" was for tucker to be my gran' daughters as she picked him out. that didn't work out and i ended up with the dog and "shared custody" of the dog when she came to visit---which was often and regular. he was part lab and part chow and tucker thought his purpose in this life was to be my dog.....other than dogs on tv or movies, i didn't know a dog could REALLY be that faithful and loyal and true. WE went thru some pretty tough times together after the financial mess of 08.....had i been HIM??? i woulda renegotiated the contract!!!! lol. i lost him to old age 3 years ago in jan....and while i have a new "sassy girl" who gives me a run for my money!!----i know my tuck is waiting for me at "rainbow bridge." peace.

I tend to agree, i grew up in a dog loving home and my husband and I, we've had dogs, 1 or 2 at a tie when our children were growing up, always went to SPCA or a rescue and training was always a priority. Our daughter and son in law did the same but just once they got a dog that had to go back. They went to the pound and got a 3 year old hoxer/pit mix, a beautiful dog, their daughter was 14 so no worries there. All was well the first 3 days, our daughter is paralyzed from waist down so her hubby does the floors, sweeping,, vacuuming etc. One day he went and grabbed the broom and began sweeping the kitchen when Belle, the new dog full on attacked him by his bicep. It took everything HD had to get her off if him, NY daughter sat by helpless, yelling her name, as he struggled to get free. He finally took his free arm and grabbed a chair wedging her into a corner and freeing his arm. Without the broom, she was OK, it was like she snapped. The next day He took her back to the pound asking alot of questions and their behavior specialist said they had noticed she wasn't fond of men, and that she might have been a dog abused by brooms or sticks, poles etc. My daughter was too afraid of her after witnessing that so they gave her back. A month later they adopted an older American Bulldog/ boxer mix who had DNA done, and she had been a trained service assistant dog. The dog "Mamas" was said to be 3 or 4 , but their vet said more like 6 or 7, they've had her 5 years and she truly is the most loving, amazing dog ever.

Mine can't be called the best behaved. She's a little juvenile delinquent but she's a sweet dog so I put up with it. She's not a barker and she has the best bathroom habits. She was 6 months old when I found her. It took about a week to get her house trained fully. I mainly just took her accidents outside and showed her where I wanted it. She got the idea and that was in for house training. She also doesn't go where anyone will normally walk.

I have researched what is good for dogs. I bathe my dogs once a month, I cook all of their food including treats. I refuse to give my dog commercial dog food. This way I know what’s in my dog food. My dogs are small, two are over 17 years old, I give the two older dogs for their joints and arthritis. They all get vitamins each day as well as homemade treats that include essential vitamins. I put their blankets each day in dryer with dryer sheet, this kills any fleas and doggie order. Using the dryer, removes all hair from doggie blankets, the hair won’t clog my wash machine. I wash their bedding and pillows once a month, dry first for 55 minutes then place in washer. I do everything I can to treat them well, they depend on me to keep them in healthy food and treats, clean environment, and comfort. I do this because humans have created enough suffering for animals, I don’t want to be one of them.

@@monicachavez7752 Thank you Monica. I have three chihuahuas Toby, Cypee and Minnie. I sometimes babysit my two grandogs, Tyler a hound and Roxy a Lab. They all love Gmas food I prepare for them. Once a week I pressure cook a range fed chicken, and pick the meat from the bone. Each week I cook quinoa in the broth of the chicken. I change the second carb each week and cook in chicken broth oatmeal, then next week it is sorghum, then Barley, then White rice, then brown rice, a change each and every week on the second carb. I never give my dogs beef or pork. They get four cups of mixed veggies. I mix all of this together and freeze half and refrigerate the rest. I heat every morning for their breakfast. On top of that I make their own cookies. They have a vitamin once a day and the two older dogs (Toby and Cypee 17 years old) get Desiquin for their joints. Toby was a pound find, Cypee was rescued in a drug bust by my son-in-law who’s a cop, Minnie was a skinny little starving street find. Some people have dogs for themselves, I have my dogs for them. I give them love, good nutrition, clean environment and I keep them clean. I never feed my dogs commercial dog food, they don’t love my dogs, I do. I know what’s in my dog food, they get the best I can give them. They get regular nail trim and annal gland emptied, a women comes to my home and does this. I take care of my dogs because we as humans owe this to all living creatures. Once a year vet visits, watching their weight, noticing their behavior , feeding them well, keeping them clean and their environment clean is all I can do. I try to be a better human each day, they help me with this. Hope this wasn’t to long for you, and thank you again for your kind comment. Please for the love of dogs don’t shop for your dog. If your someone who has s specific need, such as hunting, herding, etc then by all means deal with reputable breeders for your need. If your the person who wants a companion, then PLEASE, adopt a shelter dog. My wife and I are 6 shelter adoptions deep (4 has passed and Im glad to have spent the time with them). If you truly want a companion, there is no better way than to adopt a shelter dog. As the guy in the family (no kids mind you) Im very loud and baritone, it took me 5 years with one rescue before he finally got in my lap. But…..when he did, not only was it worth it, it never stopped for the remaining few years before he passed. Moral of the story, don’t shop, adopt.

As a professional groomer of 10 years and now a Vet of 13 years while STILL practising grooming. This is complete nonsense. Yes, you shouldn't wash your dog too often if using poor quality products or if you allow the coat to get too long or matted. But if you use natural herbal, medicated or even oatmeal shampoos, you can wash your dog every single day if you like. Leave it to the professionals, NOT this channel. I'd like to see their qualifications on the subject. Futhermore, the bacteria in a dogs mouth is NOT zoonotic, it can not be transmitted to humans. Then there's the scooting, if your dog poos normally, and the bumn isn't red or inflammed or releasing a pungent smell, then the bumb is simply itchy and 99% of the time it's simply trying to get it's scent on the floor and marking it's territory. How many things can you possibly get wrong in such a short video? Wow.

Agree with comment that it was widely believed that 1 human year equated to 7 years in a dogs lifespan...but was 'corrected' by a dog owner with a different viewpoint while discussing dog ages versus human time measurement ,while enjoying recreational time with our dogs in a park.I googled the topic and was presented with yet another opinion/ variation on a theme... which now included the size of the breed and suggested 15 dog years to 1 human year in the case of a 5kg yorkie...I am not sure that anyone really knows...but based on canines shorter lifespans compared to humans we can all agree that they age more rapidly ....so thus; let us be grateful for all the precious moments we are able to share with our 'other' canine counterparts who like us are sentient beings and full of unconditional love...

Another myth people were sucked into believing…the Germ Theory…that you “catch” diseases from others….FALSE. Most of the more severe illnesses happen to people because an upsetting event occurs in their lives taking them by surprise, unexpectedly, impacting first in the brain, then in the corresponding organ which that part of the brain controls. The end of WWI had absolutely everything to do with the Flu and lung TB outbreak that occurred killing millions. In nature, the biological conflict linked with a territorial fear (just what it means-a fear in your territory, your home, your community, etc.) is a widening of the bronchia (tissue loss). Your body attempts to widen your bronchia in order to allow more air into your lungs to give you more strength and energy to fight to keep your territory safe. Stay with me.......The biological conflict linked with a death fright impacts the lungs. The lungs attempt to grow larger in order to allow more air in because breath equals life, as we all know. No breath equals death. While you are in the fear or death fright conflict, you notice no symptoms of “disease”, except you have cold hands, cold feet, you can’t sleep, you awaken at 3 AM every night, you have little appetite. During the war, millions of people were in fear of the bombing of their homes and cities where the war was most active. Fearing for their lives, their loved ones in the war, their ability to survive. The food in the stores was sparse due to shortages. This lasted for 4 long years! The longer the conflict, the worse the healing phase. Within 2 weeks of the German Chancellor announcing the end of WWI, these millions of people ALL went into the healing phase all at the same time. It is during the healing phase that you experience symptoms of illness! What is the healing phase of the bronchia widening? Severe bronchitis, pneumonia. The body attempts to refill this lost tissue and you experience inflammation, fever, coughing, body aches, fatigue, etc. What is the healing phase of the extra lung tissue that grew? Decomposing of the tissue by TB bacteria and fungi. The symptoms of this healing phase are: severe coughing up of blood and tissue, fever, inflammation, severe mucous, body aches, fatigue. During this decomposing of the extra tissue (tumor), the body expels a lot of protein, and without replenishment, severe protein loss can result in death. Antibiotics did not exist yet. If TB bacteria does not exist in a person or they have been vaccinated against TB (big mistake), then the tumor will simply encapsulate and become dormant and not harm you. Who died during the Spanish Flu? Mainly the poor who could not afford to buy meat and proper nourishment, and the people who were directly impacted by the bombings and destruction of their homes. Millions of people suffered fear and death frights during the fighting of WWI, and millions of people all went into healing at the end of it. Not everyone was affected because not everyone suffered the same way. It’s not a “flu”, it’s not something you “catch”. It’s biological, meaningful, and unavoidable. One hundred years later, a Fear Campaign begins, using the media to spread it......

There must be a practical way to tell how old are our dogs! If humans can get pregnant and later on give birth at around 12 to 14 years old, then if a dog can give birth at age 9 months then, we can calculate from that reference point of age.

Dogs licking your cuts does work I've tested it, dogs yawn for the same reasons we do. Treat training causes your dog to only obey when you have treats. Brush your dog daily and you don't have to bathe him. Dogs eat grass to settle thier stomach. Rescue are the best dog. Teaching your dog not to fear anything is very essential in thier training. Age on this is so wrong a 1 yr old dog is equivalent to a grade school kid so I'd say 4 yrs to our one. Been raising dogs 60 yrs I think I understand how dogs work

From a reproductive and rebellion to previous training aspect a one year old dog is very much like a 17 to 19 year old human. Plus the fact that they continue to gain muscle mass until closer to 2 years old, would seem to have a 2 year old dog closer to 30 year old human.

Scooting can also mean they’re just itchy. If it happens a lot, it might mean they’re having an allergic reaction and itch a lot. Always get them checked at the vet if they’re doing it a fair amount of the time.

I had pets that scooted their butt on the floor. Both dogs and cats. From my pet experience. They did it because there was till poop on the hole area. If you’ve never wiped fully, then you know how uncomfortable that it. So the animals wipe their butt on the floor or rug to relieve the problem. Sometime I see a brown streak on the floor. Gross, then it’s time to get the carpet cleaner. All my pets get regular vet visits and check up. All were perfectly healthy.

The dog mouth thing was very relatable because my sister did a science project on dogs saliva in her 6th grade class her hypothesis was along the lines of saying “if dogs lick wounds, and it is said their mouths are cleaner then humans. Then does their saliva help with the healing process of said wound.” So we swabbed 3 of our dogs mouths and left them in a controlled environment on Petri dishes. The results of the amount of bacteria was overwhelming. So then i compared it to a saliva test i had done on humans and we actually from what i could tell from a mediocre experiment have cleaner mouths

Cuddling my rescued mastiff Pitt mix rn. My best bud. He responds to affection and praise way more than food. Also you don't need to bathe your dog every 4 weeks even, unless they're an outdoor dog you can do a handful of times in a year. They have important oils that wash off, so unless they're really stinky and dirty you shouldn't wash them very often. All natural wet wipes for dirty paws and a good towel off when wet work fine in between baths.

Dog years - 1st yr = 14 yrs. 2nd yr + 10. So at 2 yrs dog equal to 24 yrs human. Every yr after equal to 4 yrs. Hence, 3 yr old = 28. 4 yrs = 32yrs. I heard this "new" formula yrs ago. I think it fits better than 1 yr = 30 yrs. One of my dogs at 16 - 1st 2 yrs = 24 yrs old + (14 x4 ) 56 = 80 yrs old. Makes alot more sense.

a dog yawning is almost always stress. just not necessarily the bad kind. when it learns a new trick and you ask them to do it, they will often yawn first because they are thinking. this is not a bad stress at all. it can also be used as a calming action for other animals. a very socially skilled dog will use this a lot when making friends with another animal that is nervous. and, the age thing in this video is ridiculous.

Dogs need fiber to poop. Allot of dogs have some occasional trouble digesting. The fiber naturally absorbs moisture and softens the stool. People don't know why they hiccup either but that one is just as easy. Babies have to move fluid through their lungs in the womb so they hiccup because fluids don't compress. Simple stuff.

I guess in most cases it’s because a dog wants to wipe his bottoms after pooping just like a human does. Imagine if you don’t have hands and a bidet and a care giver, what do you do? If the tests shows that a dog is healthy and he still scooting after pooping, maybe you should just clean your flooring more frequently.

I worked with someone years ago that asked if we would take a Belgian Shepard that someone they knew was giving away. It had bitten a 5-year-old and I was the dog's last chance before they put him down. I lived on my own and had a female 3/4 Rocky Mountain Timber Wolf who had to stay in the back yard by herself all day while I was at work and I really wanted another dog to keep her company. When the owner brought him over, Beux hid behind him from me. When I ask what the dog's name was, the guy said "Well, we called him Beux, but you can call him anything you want." I knew right then that Beux had been, at the very least, neglectful, if not abusive. It turned out that the guy kept Beux chained up in the back yard, even though it was fenced, and never paid attention to him. They had his family over and let the little girl run at Beux screaming with her arms flailing while he was chained up. Big surprise he freaked out. After I had him for a while, my wife and I got back together and Beux became fiercely loyal to her. It was great. The only issue I had with him was when we moved from Tucson to San Diego. I was in the process of renting a house on a 1/2 acre lot, but hadn't finalized it, so I had to chain Beux up in a friend's back yard over night. I told her to not go near him or, especially let either of her 2 sons near him unless I was there. And, of course, he "seemed like a nice dog", so she did it anyway. Beux, of course, was freaked out because he was "abandoned" by me, in an unfamiliar place, tied up, AND had 3 unknown people crowding him. He tolerated them petting him for about 30 seconds and then lunged for the youngest boy. He drew blood but didn't hurt him too much. Melinda took full responsibility and didn't blame the dog in the least, which was excellent. Once I got moved to my place, they would come over and the boys would go out and play with the dogs, including Beux, for hours. He LOVED that dog. Our only issue was that we adopted another 3/4 Arctic Wolf - 1/4 Malamute male and we had to tell Jerry to stop running away from him screaming because Bandit's brain might interpret that as prey. That dog never did anything to anyone, but we didn't want to take that chance. Anyway, Beux turned out to be an AWESOME dog. I was so happy with how protective he was of my wife. but still strongly part of the pack and never questioned me as the Alpha.
