Looks like a homemade dogbone, but typically dogbone’s will have another socket welded to the opposite side of the tool as well but in a fashion you’re able to attach a ratchet or breaker bar to it. Helps you get into tight/awkward spaces to get bolts on or off, torqued, etc. He could’ve just been using it with a pipe over the handle part to break bolts loose too. We use similar homemade tools at my work, but with a socket welded to the back to attach breaker bar to. Was surely a coveted tool in his shop at one point to spend the effort of making it!

Thats a interesting find don!! I myself don't know why you would use a snap on socket!! The day you find a need for it do a video on it,that would be interesting!! Thanks don!!

You're welcome Jeff and what a great idea just going to have to rack my brain lol wish it was a 15mm it would be good for a belt tensioner pulley tool you could even slide a pipe over it if you needed some length thanks for watching my friend

That is definitely purpose built. He may have used a snap-on socket since they are known to be long-lived and wanted to use the tool as long as possible without having to fabricate a new one. Seems like a good post for Reddit - Whatisthisthing?
