Triple VCA faders like EQ for the different registers of a drum kit is so elegant. Definitely using that one.

I have VCA's setup per sub-group in a similar fashion in Reaper; I got that from Michael Brauer. I have a macro I use to push the gain adjustments to the individual channels before the group bus that resets my VCA fader to zero once complete. I only clip my Drums (including 808s), before the Master Bus unless I want a super hot record; I average -10 when mixing, leaving some leeway for Mastering. Great video, informative, and chucked full of detail as usual; the consistency is appreciated.

Jesus Dude, this is such an unbelievably valuable video Just FYI, I would gladly pay for a mixing course of yours, if you ever got round to doing one For example, taking a look at your template layout and how you go about Your mixing routine, as well as these sorts of tips and tricks Always learn something incredibly valuable from your videos and your teaching style is exceptional. Thank you as always for such incredible content. I’ve noticed the direct improvement in my mixes and mastering since applying the things I’ve learnt from your channel. Big love from the UK!

another 1% i thought of while watching this video is reconsidering the pre-delay times of your reverbs. often times a shorter decay with the right pre-delay setting can result in more clarity and leave space for the transients of the signal. in reverb heavy music this 1% might even be 3% :) very practical and useful tips, your videos are quickly becoming some of my favorites!

This was literal perfect timing. have a song in production that is working well but has an 808 kit that sounded great but with just a bit of bus compression tied everything else together but that kit was making it push and squash in a noticeable way. doing the adjusting into a clipper prior to bus compression to catch the peaks then bus compression. there it was.

Another great video. So many small improvements I've learned from you and I highly appreciate it. Quick question..if you mix into the clipper at the mixing stage...would you still have the clipper as your first insert during mastering? Or would mixing into it negate the need for it first in mastering? Thank you again for all that you share. 🙏🏼

Since you don't have sub mixes, how do you compress or eq the whole group?

Excellent video and thank you for putting it together. But I had a question. If you automate vocal volume prior to processing, wouldn't the subsequent compression just level it back out and negate the process?

DOPE VIDEO. i have just a quick question, my audio interface records at 24bit, and i use FL studio, when i click in the settings of the sample, FL studio says 32 bit float. So i searched a lil bit about it and saw that DAWs work in 32bit. So when i finish my mix should i export it in 32bit/WAV and use a better tool like Izotope RX to change it to (16 bit 48khz) and apply dither? Obs: my recordings are 48khz and also my instrumental
@panorama_mastering
@panorama_mastering 5 ай бұрын
the 8bit is floats from the top 8bits; so as long as you're not going over 0dBFS, you'll be fine to export at 24 within the DAW;

thanks bro. And in case when i need to use a cheap interface to record 16bit? should i export 32bit from fl?@@panorama_mastering

I have a couple of questions: How do you phase align live drums, and why is it neccesary? I get phase aligning for sub heavy electronic music, but I don't know how or why i would do this with live drums and live bass for instance. Do you clip all your tracks individually, or just on the drumbus?
@panorama_mastering
@panorama_mastering 5 ай бұрын
Absolutely necessary; I haven't got a video on it; but if you search drum phase alignment on youtube you'll get a bunch there; I use auto-align; and it's necessary because live drums have multiple sound source/microphones; because they capture sound at different points in the space their time-syncronisation of the waveforms aren't completely accurate; so phase aligning these are important;

Wow i just did it manually for a couple of tracks. Indeed some big issues there. You saved my ass.
