Lawson 100 is literally a convinience store with food items for 100 yen 😊 and daiso has everyday products for 100 yen too! So for a developped and rich country, Japan has actually a lot of affordable stuff

in Taiwan we actually do eat them, but we eat them after the offering we let the gods or dead or ancestor eat them first, after praying or offering is done the living can eat it even though main purpose of those food is usually for offering, but we sometimes buy and eat it as snacks too, but rarely

In Gulf countries in general. Even though cost of living can be high in some countries but when it comes to food. There is always a very cheap and good quality option. This is no mistake it’s there to insure no one is hungry. In my country kuwait it’s a law to keep certain food items at the same price regardless of inflation to insure everyone is feed.
