Great study Dr. Bagwell! Really appreciate these studies! "Confidence"/παῤῥησία/parrhēsia--means to speak all, things that will flow out of your heart. This is assurance. See James 1:5. God will never rebuke you for asking for something in His will. Amen! "In"/πρός/pros/this means face to face. When you pray, you go face to face with God. Jesus lives in us while we are living in Him. 2 Cor. 5:17. "Ask"/αἰτέω/aiteō/a present tense verb--to beg. Asking should be a habitual, consistent way of life. "According"/κατά/kata/the foundation and criteria. The foundation for our prayers must be the will of God. "Will"/θέλημα/thelēma/anything that will thrill God on my behalf. "Heareth"/ἀκούω/akouō. "Know"/εἴδω/eidō/knowledge the Holy Ghost gives you. "Have"/ἔχω/echō. "Petitions"/αἴτημα/aitēma. "Of"/παρά/para--right beside Him. If you love Jesus with all of your heart, that prayer promise is a blank check God has given you. Amen! John 7:13 shows that God wants us to speak openly before the throne of God. You don't have to be ashamed or afraid to tell Him everything. In John 11:14, we can speak "plainly" to the Lord. In Heb. 10:35, we see that God gives us the confidence we need. In the book of 1st John, he uses the Greek verb parrhēsia three times: 1 John 2:28, 1 John 4:17 & 1 John 5:14. "Prayer is God's appointed way to commune with His children". Great quote! "Prayer is the thermometer of the spiritual life". Wow! "What breathing is to the physical man, praying is to the spiritual man". Prayer is our very life breath as we talk to God. Jesus said that if we do not pray, we will faint. We get great strength from our prayer life. The most important thing about prayer to John is the will of God. God answers prayers in three ways: "Yes", "No" and "Wait a while". "The centrality of the whole prayer issue is communion with God." So true! See Jer. 33:3, Eph. 3:20, James 4:2 & Psalm 81:10. Great study today! Thank you so much again for doing these!

I liked being reminded that his answers are yes, no, and wait a while. And thank you for the example of praying for lost friends and family. I admit I get discouraged not seeing those near me not receiving salvation. Perhaps God’s answer is wait a while. Because it IS his will that they be saved. Wow. Gives confidence to keep praying.

I am praying for some big things that some have told me that it would be hard to answer. But God can do anything. I feel like I am waiting. God might be saying wait a little bit. It doesn’t make sense to some around me, but I know God wants me in this place right now. A holding place. Thank you for the lesson.

Thank God sometimes God say NO to our prayer. Thank God we don’t always get what we ask for. We better be careful what we ask for sometime
