Up to 10 minutes of breathable air under the water! This 1 Liter Dive Tank Review goes through the pros and cons and functionality of the device. I think this is worlds better than the .5 liter Smaco, though each have their respective place. Many kits offer the hand pump, though I chose not to get one as one came with the .5 liter I already had. Check it out below. Cost was $139 with prime shipping on Amazon.

I got this from Amazon on my first trip to the ocean. We went to Laguna Beach. It was so cool. I rented a kayak and paddled out about a quarter mile. I dove down to about 65 feet and found the coolest underwater cave to explore. There were all kinds of fish, garibaldi, lobster, little sharks, sea urchins and even an octopus. I would have stayed down there for hours but after about 13 minutes, resurfaced.

That’s way deeper than I would’ve gone. I’m also surprised it lasted 13 minutes at 65 feet. What did you use to check your depth?

Mini tanks like this are quite useful at depths deeper than 25 feet. That is, if you are a SCUBA diver that has a product like this as an emergency, backup air source.

Thanks for the review, came here to see how it fairs. My biggest concern with these items is, that they make 'diving' so easy and accessible. I don't wanna gatekeep, but diving can be dangerous and kill you and I just refer to the whole breath/compression issue. These things sold relatively cheep may lure people into thinking 'diving is easy' and get them seriously hurt or killed.

This is the filter i am using. I have not experience issues. This filter removes oil, moisture and the activated charcoal is to purify the air, before entering the scuba tank. When u order this accessory. When u get it, you have to invert both ends. The tube is held by one of the caps. So the activated charcoal should face the exit air hose leading to the tank. From factory is set up backwards. And y dont want the moisture to hit the charcoal first. All you do is to take the quick connet nipple and screw it on the cap that holds the tube, in. And the exit house that hooks on the tank, screwed on the cap, that faces the activated charcoal. And based on your question, again. You wont have any issues. The air comes out well filtered. Plus you would be using food grade oil, which is very important. What i do after every fill., i turn the compressor and close the bleed valves. Without being plugged to the tank. To purge water from the white cotton filter. Inside the black casing. Then i unscrew the casing, ane blow the remaining moisture trapped inside the the quick connect threaded head. U can use a clean cloth and wipe the inside. Then i do the same with the long tube filer from this link. Because if u dont wipe or blow off any remaining moisture after every fill. It will build up, and ruin your desiccant. The clear beads from the tube. Cutting off their working life. Too much moisture will swell them and turn them yellow. But if u do what i say and keep a good habit doing it. It will keep that tube dry, and working good for very long. By the way. Look at the item pic from the link. If you look at both ends. The quick connect nipple. Should be on the opposide side. Not where the charcoal is. So u unscrew the nipple and the hose with a wrench. And switch them off

SMACO has passed ISO 9001, BSCI, TUV, certification. Products have the appearance & invention & practical patents of China, EU, Australia and the United States etc. It has passed the professional certification of CE, ROHS, DOC, FDA,PPE and so on. What most people are failing to realize is that All tanks holding compressed gas are certified in North America to required regulations. Mini tanks like these are in a different category from scuba tanks but its the only way these can be sold, think of SpareAir (40+ years and still selling). The scuba industry does not regulate any tank manufacturing, it is DOT in USA or TC in Canada that sets the requirements. I did check before doing this video and the tanks are certified for sale in North America and around the world. Believe me. These tanks are as safe as the Boeing 737 you take when you go on vacation.

There is going to be a small adjustable valve on a good quality regulator. That can be adjusted to allow good flow but not freeflow, otherwise there is a small rubber seal that when it gets old, it will no longer seat and allow the reg to freeflow after you push the purge valve once, even if it seals upon pressurizing. Sounds like it is either a cheap or maladjusted valve from the factory. Losing any air from a tank this tiny is a huge problem.
@allthingsrandom8137
@allthingsrandom8137 3 жыл бұрын
So within the regulator itself there is a small adjustable lever for the purge valve. The issue was quality control, because the lever is slightly too high and is depressed when the top is screwed on completely. It wasn’t a difficult fix, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend taking it apart unless you know what you’re doing.

@all things random as a certified diver for the last 5 years pushing the purge button it is designed that way to blow water out of the regulator it’s suppose to leak out air as you put it. It’s to blow water out of the regulator when the button is pressed before you take a breath. But the leaking on the hose is not good should have had a good nice tight seal on there with a good o ring of course that o ring could have been faulty in manufacturing. Also another reason for certified diving of course for inspections.

I think these tanks are a great idea, but only if you are scuba trained. I have padi advanced open water certificate and I think it will be safe for me to use the tank. On holiday I do a couple of dives with a dive shop and spend the rest of the time snorkeling. This will be perfect for my needs. Just to be able to do my normal snorkeling but not having to keep going up for air, so I can stay down longer if I see something interesting that I want to photograph or film. For someone untrained that is not aware of the dangers of breathing compressed air at depth I think it could be dangerous though. The instructions should warn of the dangers such as diving at great depth or breath holding whilst ascending etc. In fact it would be a good idea if it came with an instructional dvd highlighting all the possible dangers with it and how to use it safely. The product is great as a snorkeling aid, however it is not for 'diving'.

I'm 17 I've always loved swimming and I went to the blue hole in Santa rosa NM and I loved it. I swam pretty deep just to touch a far rock and swim back up and I jumped from the wall a few times too. I always loved water and have had dreams where I could breathe underwater. I'm a really good swimmer and dont breathe as hard as others while swimming because I stay calm. I want to go underwater for longer i may buy a tank but I'll breath as little as possible to prolongue my time. I do know to breathe normally on the way up. I am new to this but I want to get into it. How do you get dive certified? I may not have to but just wondering out of curiosity.

Go to padi.com and you can take online course or you can search for diving shops around you. If you do the online course you still need to pay instructor, so it would be wise to search the nearest diving shop and discuss the rest with the instructor. I'm also considering it, although I don't have much time cause of work.

Would it be possible to use this small tank as an enhancer for snorkeling, using the tuba most of the time and turning off the tank, then when one wishes to go see stuff switch from tuba to tank? This could make the 10 min breathing of the tank enough for an hour of snorkeling.

Yes, that is what I always recommend. I recommend that someone snorkels over what they would like to go down and see, then use the apparatus to dive down and kind a look around for a little bit and then go back up safely. How many fills can you get going from a regular size scuba tank (80cf) to the 1L pony bottle?
@allthingsrandom8137
@allthingsrandom8137 2 жыл бұрын
OK, it’s sort of depends. Let me throw it out like this. The 1 L bottle is actually 6 ft.³ of air. So technically 80 ft.³ of air to 6 ft.³ of air would be just over 13 fills. But as you start dropping the pressure of the tank, you’ll never be able to fill it up to 3000 psi again. So basically you’re looking at a couple full tanks, and then a bunch of partially fillEd tanks

@@allthingsrandom8137 good to know. I’m trying to decide on a quick and dirty solution for staying down an extra minute or so when lobstering at 10-20ft. Dave Cavanaugh that makes sense honestly I think that a line from a steel 80 is safer, but it wouldn’t be bad to have the 1 L as a back up. At about 10 to 20 feet, if you’re calm and you’re used to working in those conditions, you can probably get easily 10 minutes on the 1 liter

I haven’t had an issue getting up to 3000 psi. I’m not in the best of shape, but it does get harder and harder as the time goes on. As long as you have the high-pressure manual pump, there shouldn’t be an issue. However, they do make high pressure electric pumps. I did a video reviewing minidive and their electric pump

Warning: If you dive deeper than 15 meters (50ft) you could literally die when breathing compressed air. So stay above 25ft and you'll be fine, at this depth you can resurface when ever you want (slowly) without any issues. I recommend a dive watch as well so you can keep track of time and depth.

I did a “re-review” where I say basically that. Except I give the depth as being far more shallow as the deeper you go, to include an upward of 25 feet is deep enough to compress everything and cut the air to basically half. my concern honestly for people is an over expansion of the lungs if they run out of air suddenly then hold their breaths coming up. I think it’s a decent kit, but the other video explains all the ways it’ll kill you

Anyone can use it, yes. You can buy them on Amazon or eBay. It does not cause any breathing problems as long as it’s properly used. There are several health risks while breathing under water, that includes at any depth. For example. Even at something like, 12 feet(3 meters), which is not deep by any means, can cause issues if you run out of air, hold your breath and surface. The correct way, even if you run out, would be to breathe out slowly the entire way to the surface. One main rule: never hold your breath under water if you have taken any breath under pressure. Either hold your breath the entire time or breathe the entire time.
