Hey Megan! I've got such a similar motherhood journey to yours! My first baby girl (Ivy) was born Sept 2020 and my second girl (Lola) was born June 2022. My first was such a hard newborn with sleep, colic and feeding issues. Not to mention the postpartum depression and anxiety. I was bracing myself for the worst with my second. Surprised to me, my second is an angel baby! She is a great sleeper, great eater, and overall such a happy baby! I remember with my first I was wondering if i was really cut out to be a mom. I remember the relentless crying, 2am car rides, unsuccessful soothing back to sleep and so much more. It was a beautifully chaotic and exhausting time in my life. I am so blessed to have such a different experience with the second baby. She feeds great, goes right back to sleep, and doesn't mind the relentless "help" from her big sis haha. Plus I am SO much more confident in my mothering skills the second time around. I wouldn't trade my post postpartum experiences for the world...but I think just like you it's what I needed this time around. I am so happy for you and your family and glad that this new baby has been such a joyful addition to your family. I can relate to the breastfeeding issues, my little girl is 6 weeks old today and I'm exclusively pumping. She has a lip tie and a high arched palate so nursing is very difficult for us, we still try every few days but she's still exclusively getting breast milk because I persevered and keep pumping. It's a full time job, I pump every 2 hours and also twice during the night. I completely understand why some moms give up and formula feed but it wasn't a choice I could personally make. Also wow my baby has been trying to roll over since week 1 also and she's been holding her head up since she was 5 hours old. These 2022 babies are something special.

Body image is so tough, I never thought as a kid/teen that my adult body would keep changing throughout my life so it's always hard to accept when it does. Definitely going to try to teach my kids that their bodies will always be changing a little, that it will continue to grow and adapt with them their whole lives.

I’m the Mom who did not listen to the recommendation to pump and bottle feed for 24 hours and we are still healing over here having to use a nipple shield on one breast. Love hearing your experiences with your beautiful babies 🤍

I also think waking them for their day feeds helps alot for them to be settled and in a good routine and work out day and night.

I had a similar experience with my 2 babies, first was hard work and second was so much easier. I think cos u are alot more experienced and relaxed yourself the second time around it helps alot for baby to go with the flow. I also didn't tear the second time as i had a water birth, recovery was much easier and quicker. Your body takes time to get back to a mum normal but it gets there.

Congrats mama 💕 just thought I’d share my experience with the turning over.. my osteopath told me that newborns rolling over is not great and means that they have lots of tension built up! We released everything and my baby stopped doing it after !

I’m due in early Nov with my second girl & I love the fact that Rowan is so sweet to his little sister!! I’m just curious to see how my LO will react lol. I’ve been telling her about the baby for a while now. She knows a change is about to happen because she’s been super clingy 🤣🤣 all good tho cause I’m just enjoy all those moments!! My niece Henley had to stay in the hospital she ran a fever and was only a week old! She was in there for a day and half she came out fine! Thank goodness!

Lovely update! Would love to see a video on other times you answered creatively versus “blamed the baby.” I totally want to do this with my toddler once baby number two arrives. If not a video, any book recommendations/other videos online. What helped you respond better to your toddler?

I'm so glad you're choosing to honor your body. I wish we weren't all sold this idea that bodies must remain static in order to be beautiful. Bullsh!t! The fact they they're changing and growing signifies the life they contain! I hope you enjoy getting to know your mom-of-two self. Treat her as you would your dear friend--the friend that I (and I'm sure many of us watching) view you as! PS as far as perineal stretching goes, we did that with my first and still got a second degree tear, BUT... I'm certain it would've been worse if we hadn't! I'm a big fan of it, personally. It was a good opportunity to meditate, breathe, and practice some labor coping techniques to deal with the discomfort.

My baby also rolled over at 3 weeks and at first our doctor was like oh my gosh, he's super strong. But then a month or two later he stopped rolling and they said it was because his head was too heavy and that's why he rolled early. He ended up rolling over in a more controlled way at the 4 month mark. Just a heads up because I panicked at first and thought he was losing a learned skill!

I gained a lot of weight (45lbs) with my first and only nursed for three months. My second I gained 10lbs my third I gained (50lbs)I had three girls and I tore from one end to the other end my first/third delivery. My second I did not tear she was my smallest. Firstborn 8lbs 2oz, second 7lbs 5oz My third 9lbs 4oz. I delivered all natural. I love watching your babies grow and I have learned alot of good ideas.

Where is your crib from? I’m having a hard time finding one that I like that’s in our budget and that’s actually beautiful.
