I have so much respect for her graciousness and for her unique awareness of who she is and of her surroundings and being the same in all things at all times, and for her incredible physical presence. You think “calm” and “poised” when you think of Venus Williams yet I’ve seen her in person and I can’t describe the sense of just how tall she is and how powerful she is at work. She has been an extraordinary athlete, girl... teen... young adult... into full grown woman over the years - and all in the public eye - yet you haven’t seen anything less than extraordinary and phenomenal coming from her regardless of her age, regardless of the circumstance ....for nearly 30 years. On the world stage, on a global pedestal that all the world is trying to knock her off of, she maintains royalty and dignity that you don’t even see in the palatial courts of those who are royal. Yes, I remember that match very well against Lindsay Davenport. Venus was so elated - you could feel it through the tv screen. She hadn’t won a major since the 2001 US Open and she was so happy!

She was on point and serious during the entire match, and when she leaped across the court in joy, I cried in joy for her. I have a daughter who looks just like her - if you saw her in person, you might mistake her for Venus. She's very tall, and since she is an athlete and physical trainer, her body is ripped, and she has actually been mistaken for Venus when she attended one of her matches.

I saw an interview with Richard this morning who said that Venus has other interests - businesses; and has chosen to spend time on those. Richard has always said that Serena is the tiger of the two, and Venus is not.; which is why she just isn't concerned about being number one. She got the whole thing started, at 14, mind you, and that was good enough for her. There's no irony in it. They love and support each other and pay no attention to people who are pitting one's talents against the other.
