You donn't have to talk to D for the portal to be usable. He only marks your map of it's location, if you know where is it, you can go there without having to talk to him.

Because Placidusaax's Ruin is obtained via great rune, not dragon communion, it does not get buffed by the dragon communion seal. However, you will still see it in dragon communion builds, because Fromsoftware is wrong in this situation. It should be a dragon communion incantation.

The Roar Medallion doesn’t work with Regal Roar because if you look closely during the animation the shockwave comes out when you stomp the ground and the roar seems to just be there for flavor.

for crimson amber medalion and radagon's soreseal: use the soreseal while your base vigor is 44 or less, as this provides well over 5 levels of value. by the time you get to base level 50 vigor, it's time to switch to the amber medalion because it's providing more than 5 levels of value, and the soreseal is providing less than 5 levels of value. in between, just do whatever, or use a +5 level charm.

The Crucible Feather talisman is mostly really good for SL1 runs, where you're trying to never get hit anyways. The damage reduction doesn't really matter and it makes dodging much easier.

Separate the scorpions talisman. Day is ruined. Do it again.

The Ancestral Horn talisman also stacks with the passive effect of the Sacrificial Axe, giving you (I believe) 11 FP per kill. Add the Sword of Milos and you become an FP regenerating machine!

Flock Canvas does have a niche that the Two Fingers doesn't, it still buffs incantations cast by seals that don't scale off Faith. So if you're using Dragon Communion spells with their seal it'll still work, for example.

Flocks canvas can be obtained if you kill Millicent after the Godskin Apostle fight in Altus. If you don’t care about/already have Rotten Winged sword it’s very easy to obtain.

Important Sacrifical Twig tip, it still retains your bloodstain on the ground if you had already died. Have a ton of runes but die somewhere along the way and worried you might lose them if you die again? Pop on a sacrifical twig and you have a safety net if you fuck up again and can still reclaim those tons of runes you left.

You can stack the flocks/faiths canvas talismans for 12% increase to your incantations (same with graven mass). It’s quite worth it imo

Kinda wish we had our spell boosting rings from DS3 and our passive effect armor sets from DS2.

The Crimson Dagger talisman is also good for making up for lost HP after blocking 1-2 hits, then parrying with parry shields.

One of the best uses for Green Turtle Talisman is for tank build. It stacks with the Stam Regen Tear for physick. When guarding your Stam comes back super slow. This works even when guarding so you'll be able to tank more hits without having to lower your guard to get your stam back.

I remember a use for the predecessor to the Host's Trick-Mirror that makes you look like a phantom as well as the one that makes you look like a host. I remember being a sunbro for someone in Smoldering Lake and the host got invaded, I equipped the Untrue Dark Ring to look like the host, my summoner equipped the Untrue White Ring to look like a summon. The invader never found us and left, and we unequipped our rings. If they don't pay attention to the name at the bottom you can trick them into thinking that the summon is the host and the host is the summon. Good for co-op with a friend as it can fool unatentive invaders into going after the summon because they look like the host.

A tip I'd say for the golden scarab talisman is to make sure to quickly equip it after killing a boss, since you'll generally have enough time to equip it before you get the runes. Can also use one of those gold pickled foot things as well for bosses that have a longer death animation.

Ritual Sword Talisman + Dagger Talisman + Assassin's Crimson and Cerulean Dagger Talisman + Flame of the Redmanes on Misériecorde. Do I need to say more? P.S. 4:36 You can get the Flock's Canvas Talisman quickly if you kill Millicent in Windmill Village (she will drop the Millicent's Prosthesis Talisman) or killing her after giving her the Unalloyed Gold Needle that Gowry fixes (she won't drop anything). This also results in Gowry entering "sad mode" making it so if you kill him, he drops the Talisman.

host's trick mirror is great for stealth-based pvp builds. they'll know you invaded, but most of the time will be looking for a bright red invader and your health bar/name won't appear until they lock onto you or you take damage. TheKoop has some great examples on his channel of wearing camoflaging clothing and crouching/lie down behind stuff, people literally walk right past him and he gets easy backstabs. people aren't usually expecting stealth in this game so it's a cool mixup

Recently I realized how good dragoncrest talismans + mage armor can be. Yes you have no poise, but you can get surprisingly high defenses in every damage type this way, without having to invest into endurance heavily.

The Haligdrake talisman tip had me rolling xD

Another tip about Radagon's/Marika's Sore/Scarseals... They are much more powerful the lower your level is. All of the Seals give a lot of Rune Levels, which increases your base defense by a lot at lower levels. You can get the high level version of Radagon's from going to Fort Farroth and speed running through it to get it (you also get a Dectus Medallion piece, yay). If you are at the right level to be progressing Limgrave and Weeping Peninsula, you're probably going to get about nine to eleven base defense from Radagon's. In most cases this tends to result in you actually only taking about 8% more damage instead of the 15% listed in the stat menu. These talismans become much less worth using starting at about level 60. All stat boosting stuff is super worth using early game because it boosts your base defense. That's why I really like using two of the stat boosting Physicks, because they usually give you a ton of extra damage, and about 7% more tankiness for those 20 levels.

Here’s a tip for the Feather Talismans: They activate at 20% or below, whereas the Royal Remains set activates 18% or below. Meaning, if you stack enough defenses on top of the Blue Feather talisman, you can regen the damage fairly quickly and still keep the damage and defense buffs going.

the worth of the mirror talismans is in confusing the invader, have the host use the one that makes them look like a cooperator and the cooperator using the one that makes them look like the host. invaders tend to focus on the host so you can force them to focus a cooperator, you can also make everyone look like the host or a cooperator

If anyone happens across this and cares: Roar Medallion got updated to apply to more things like most Dragon Communion Incants, Regal Roar, Starcaller's Cry etc.

Milicent's prosthesis is actually pretty easy to get. Just do the first two parts of milicent's questline until you give her the arm, meet her after killing the godskin on the windmill, then simply *KILL HER.* You get the talisman without doing 75% of the quest!

Fun fact about rock sling as long as you’re locked on to a target and holding the staff in your left hand your center and right most “rocks” have infinite range

I've never used the bull goat's talisman I've always associated it with PvP. The Ragged set was removed from the game in patch 1.03 unfortunately. I hope it comes back in future DLC because I'm digging the fashion.

The dragon crest items also negate the debuffs from scorpion charms cause as you said, physical damage. The higher tier ones will negate more, i know dragoncrest greatshield negates the debuff and gives you more DR at the same time

Hosts trick mirror can be used as a summon in invasions to trick the invader. I once got tanked and her to guess who was the host luckily I chose correct and managed to inescapable frenzy the host.

7:04 the point of the trick-mirrors is mostly to confuse invaders. I'm not saying it's generally worth it to waste a talisman slot, but summon etiquette is that allies should take more risks because death only costs them a little time. If you are willing to waste a slot it can potentially save your host due to them misjudging the priority target. The description even clarifies that, noting that it's "created to deceive invaders". When you *are* the invader it does nothing.

You didn't mention it but the Graven-mass and Graven-school talisman, giving you a 12% increase, which I'd say is well worth it.

Host/Phantom Rings, This is better for "First" playthrough worlds if you are being summoned matching the host and acting like you don't want to die. Throws off invaders and keeps them from rushing the host. I do this for the people struggling to get through "annoying" areas, collecting loot, etc

The host's trick mirror isn't for the invader, its for the furled finger, so that the invader won't know which one is the host. Still never used it though.

Honestly Rust has a very good idea with his weapon mods adding special r1's into its combo, twinblade talisman would make much more sense.

So you’re telling me old lords talisman doesn’t work for flaming strike or cragblade, but it works for rallying standard???

Worth noting! All "absorption" Talismans get gutted in PvP, as do most generic damage effects. The "Spell Boost" talismans for Incantations and Sorceries, however, keep their magnitudes, making them slightly better. Also, almost all effects are multiplicative. So a 25% decrease to Crimson Tear Flask recovery isn't offset by a 25% increase - rather it requires a 33% increase.

7:09 Actually, it just screws with Invaders when there are 3 Furled Fingers (or 2 Furled Fingers and a Fake Host) and an Invader who assumes he killed the Host will act Dumb and Crouch a Lot on their Corpse, leading to some Shenanigans where they can't believe they killed the wrong guy. It is best used when you are with people you communicate with / Friends.
