This is an interesting breakdown. I would like to throw in my 2 cents and see what his thoughts are on them. My family was in the pallet industries up until the early 2000's. My grandfather did very good for himself and had many accounts that he had for over 10 years. We made new and used pallets, crates, and other speciality products for customers. We had two locations. One mainly was a saw mill so to speak where we produced lumber for our pallets and the other was for pallet making. What I seen as a business model for used pallets was we had people who would come to us with used pallets. We paid them based on if the pallet was A, B , or C grade. We in turn fixed any pallets that needed it and then sold to customers based on grade. From my memory we didn't pay much per pallet. Something like .50 to around 1.25. Again this was around late 90's to early 2000's prices. The thing we noticed at the end was that a lot of the manufacturing jobs in our area were going under or moving overseas. I would assume if you are in a smaller market it would be hard to get started these days.

sunfire311 Those are considered heat treated pallets. Only heat treated pallets were sent internationally. It prevents bug infestations being sent from one country to the next

I'm not a greedy guy, if I could aquire 7 accounts that would buy 100 pallets each in one month @ $5.00/pallet, that comes to $3,500/mo... $42,000/yr. Also, if I could find 8 more accounts that would buy 150 pallets/mo. @ $5.00/pc., that would come to $6000/mo... $72,000/yr. That's a total of $114,000/yr. I don't even make half of that in a year. Just 15 core accounts that buys every month and I would certainly say bye-bye to my current job. All my time and energy would then go to building the business.

Honestly I listen at work daily. I drive a garbage truck. 13 hours a day mon-fri. Now I see pallets everywhere. Our yard is in an industrial area and they are everywhere. Ilgot written up today because I took the day off yesterday to pick up my car. I have no sick days left for the year. I'm ready and willing to make this happen. I'm in SoCal...trucking Mecca. Should be too saturated with Pallet guys. I want to do this right. Be the pitch man. I'm on the verge of buying a flatbed. I got my call tomorrow morning. Can't wait.

If I put in the work and hustle hard I should be ok. If it don't work I go back to driving a truck. Just being realistic. I have a Union Job, but I want to be my own boss. Work on for me.

bR z you will be a 1099 for the businesses that buy from you. We don’t collect sales taxes since we are selling used items. Sales taxes were originally collected from whomever built the pallet originally

@@JCharlesTheSimplestBiz I'm wondering as a 1099 IRS will take. big chunk of your year revenue your claim at end of year for filing taxes. the more one makes the more uncle sam takes from self employed, 1099 etc? Just wondering what other way to structure this as a business that taxes don't take a good amount of your wealth. versus other niche businesses that may be more tax incentive like real estate, stocks, etc. or building company with employees. (I'm still learning all this business stuff. thanks for your attention!)

@@happylifegrace4674 You can depreciate the truck you purchase. If you lease a truck, you can deduct the monthly lease payment. You can depreciate your business computer. You can deduct your startup costs plus the mileage or maintenance & fuel for the truck. You can deduct office supplies and half of the cost of lunches with customers. If you really want to get adventurous, form an S corporation instead of an LLC, and then you can take some of your salary as a shareholder dividend, which is taxed less than a payroll check. I would not let income taxes stop you from starting any type of business. If you work a regular job, you cannot deduct hardly anything.

I fully understand that you have to charge for the course. I went to your website and I can't find a price. Is this a franchise? I'm wanting to go balls deep in a business, I just can't find one that will fit for me. I found you a your idea. I'm in love. I believe I can do it. Is your recommendation to get a old truck for others to pity you and justify your charges? If I show up with a fancy truck and trailer to a customer would I do as well as if I had the ratty ole truck? I'm 35. I live in north Dakota. I want my family to finely be proud of me.

@John Charles Wilker There's a PALLET YARD in my area advertizing to businesses within basically within a 50-60 mile radius that they will pickup for free with a minimum of 20 pallets which basically sounds like the target market your course is suggessting. How does your course help beat the competition when clearly they're NOT the "3rd graders" or "scavengers" that I assume we would usually be competiting against? They seem like a real threat to saturate the market. I'm genuinely wondering, if you could please responsd it would be greatly appreciated.

99% of a Pallet yards business is with one style of pallet called a 48x40 standard pallet. We deal with a multitude of different sizes. They are only going after that one size. Plus they have minimum large orders .. in addition to usually charging a delivery fee on top of the jacked up price of their pallets because of their overhead

My only concern is that I don’t want to purchase the course just to find out all the buyers around my area only pay $1.50-2.50 per pallet. I emailed john about my situation in great detail and ultimately just needed a concise answer on whether or not the pallet & dunage rates are the same in Boston as they are in AL. He confirmed he had students in Boston but was very vauge about pricing being different everywhere and did a poor job of convincing me the pricing around Boston is solidified.

How are you guys selling pallets for $5-$6 a piece? In my area, NY the pallet companies are paying $1.50-$2 per pallet depending on requirements and condition. I'm going to pallet recyclers FYI. Should I be going to a different service?

Yes - I deal in heavy duty off sized pallets for a lot of my customers. I do not sell to pallet yards and only 10% of my biz model are standard pallets. I hope this gives you some clarity.

@@SheaKnuth I do not repair pallets. nor do I have employees that repair pallets. I have a whole method for this. That being said, a couple weeks ago I did see a board popped up on a large pallet that was worth quite a bit of money... I got my hammer and gave it a whack. If its something like that yep I'll do it. But the vast majority of pallets that we deal with are in good shape. The ones that aren't I can teach you exactly how to handle it.

Could some just charge businesses to remove old pallets? Maybe rebuild the old pallets or maintain and keep inventory for such customers?

Yes 95% of them I get for free. There’s one style that’s a small portion of my biz That I will pay one dollar apiece for but I’m going to sell them for between 5 to 8 dollars per unit

I'd rather have 50 ppl spend $100 with me to make $5000 vs 5 ppl spending $1000 to make $5000. It's easier to find someone willing to spend $100 vs $1000. point I'm getting at is the course is too high. If you lowered it you would sell a lot more courses because everyone doesn't have $2000 to spend on a gamble although you do a great job at pitching the idea, it's the cost that turns ppl away so even if they wanted to do it they still can't come up with that type of cash #deadend. Look for 3 or 4ppl instead of 1 to make that $2000 and I guarantee they'll fly off the shelf

Mr. Wilmer, I 1st heard about through JT Hustlezs. I was very impressed and wanted to take the classes. Unfortunately I had to delay the class, I was not able to afford it. Is there any way we can make payment arrangements. I have a 15 ft passenger van. I have already scoped out some businesses in my area. Can you elaborate more why it takes 15 yrs? I'm also wondering how it's taxes you on this niche income? Rich dad poor dad teaches when you are self employed and not a business with more than 50employees or an investor.. uncle sam taxes you much more than everyone else
