Powerstroke P3. I like the balanced tone and punchy response. I like the way it dampens high frequencies and keeps the low tones tight. I had originally chose Powerstroke 77 but after listening again its the Powerstroke P3 coated, definitely.

You're right it's very ringy/bell sound. It's a DW snare & I have quite a few. In my opinion the head does the snare no justice. I have many combinations ie the Evans g1 & it's tight. No ringy/bell sound & without any moon gel or damper.

Thanks for the video. I like the P3 in High or Medium Tuning. To me the mid-range is a bit more controlled, the overtones seem to be at a much higher frequency than the others, but I think this would be easier to control with some outer dampening.

Medium tuning is definitely the way to go👌🏽 you get the best of both worlds, what more do you want? 😂 also I don’t use Remo heads anymore but when I did, on my snare I would use a 14” powerstroke p3 and on my toms clear remo pinstripes 😎👌🏽 but now I use a Evans HD Dry snare head and Evans EC2 clear heads on my toms. And of course on my bass drum I use an Aquarian Superkick 3 head

I have nowhere near the experience or skill of the ^producer, and I mean no offense, but I really don't like the metallic clang that is SO prominent here, especially in places like 3:32 and elsewhere. That is why I prefer the sound of a nice wooden snare. I was honestly having a hard time paying attention to the subtle differences between heads, because of that overpowering metallic clang. Someone else made a comment that it sounds more like a bell than a snare. I wouldn't go that far, but I certainly understand his point! I'm sure that mufflers or dampers would cut down on 'some' of the noise.
@RickK1988

Different metals give you less or more ring. Brass shells are generally quite ringy. Hence a slight muffling usually cures the issue when it's a problem.
