They should have put a remote control light in it with a good battery source.. Surprised they don't know where the water came from.. that's pretty pffff. The hull has plenty of water in it, and as it loses water it also shrinks - leaving the gap where the water we can see is able to infiltrate.

When the gas pressure gets high enough that thing will become a supernova
@joshuamarshall1718
@joshuamarshall1718 4 күн бұрын
Only if there's enough oxygen inside of it. The gas is a biproduct of bacteria eating, the liquid inside of it is likely alcohol from the bacteria. However once the sugar and oxygen is depleted and alcohol is the only thing left the process ceases and the bacteria die. If it would have been an issue it would have blown up within the first few months let alone the whole year hence the pressure crack at the weak points. However when it inevitably gets dropped the stench will be phenomenal.

@hershekissed yes and no. As you can see here the pumpkin is starting to split the Resin out the back. Whereas Amber (which is fossilized tree sap) has YEARS where it very slowly envelops specimens and therefore anything alive trapped inside has time to try out before it's mummified. BUT... Amber has never encased anything as BIG as a pumpkin before, so... Amber could technically gather juices from liquefied pumpkins, and also start cracking out the back...

Drying out the pumpkin is imperative if you want to preserve it. You can try stuffing it with something absorbant/allow air flow to help it keep it's shape. I'd try spraying with 75-99% isopropyl alcohol to help it along. Once the rind is cured, dried, and hardened, you can seal it however you want

The pumpkin is still decomposing, so fluids of the pumpkin will built up as bacteria eat it away, causing gas to build up. This building up pressure on the resin, if the pressure is high enough it will crack part of the resin if not all (not likely if it was one solid piece of resin). Since you mentioned the resin block is made from two different pours of resin; this causing two different layers that are connected by the stickiness of the second resin pour, and a crack is forming then the gasses in the block has enough pressure to slowly break apart at the intersection of the two resin layer. Best thing to do is throw it out. The crack can get bigger and cause the gas and fluids to leak out, which will cause a mess and smell very bad that you may vomit smelling the 1 year old decayed pumpkin flesh. Best way to prevent all of this was to freeze the pumpkin entirely to kill most bacteria, then soak it in some type of preservative liquid for about 24-72 hours to make all the cells in the pumpkin be filled with the liquid, then to pour one continuous layer of resin over the pumpkin, leaving all bubbles out. To make sure no air is in there leave the pumpkin top open and get rid of an air bubbles inside the pumpkin, once that is don add the top back on and pour till all of the pumpkin in cover d with idk 2-3 inches of resin on top of it. That could potentially make the pumpkin last for a couple of years if not technically forever in the reain

It looks like they did 7 pours. Resin casting, being a catalytic reaction, creates some heat. It probably started after the first pour, accelerated during the second pour, and this was when the decomposition began. After the third or fourth pour, it began outgassing which caused the weakness between layers. I would have probably tried pouring the skin first, then do the same to the inside to seal it. Do the pours about a day apart, wait about 3-4 days then do several pours to fill the inside before doing the final immersion fill. Something else that might help, would be after the skin pour, dehydrate the inside to remove some of the moisture before completing the pour process.

It's cracking from the air pressure caused by the decay of the pumpkin which releases natural gases, and the water is also coming fron decay, as it decays it releases its water content when shriveling up and drying out.

A rotting piece of something will produce energy and that energy has to go somewhere. It doesn't just disappear, after all. So the resin cracking makes perfect sense.

The tale of the former pumpkin king: Once beloved by his people, one mishap has tattered his reputation and confidence amongst the populace. Now deeming him subject to the traditional punishment for treachery, they used the ancient magics to seal him into the eternal prison, left to be sent as an example in writing on mimicking his perceived actions. He yearns to rule the land and to raise the dead for a royal army to strike back against the populace that betrayed him.

If you do this again, get a small refrigerator to cure it in, and pull vacuum on the initial pour, which should be a single pour. A long cold cure will effectively prevent most of this.

Since air was introduced it of course had bacteria and yeasts inside and trapped giving it almost perfect enviornment to ferment, as the pumking has water inside, since not visually rotting might end up smelling hardcore like vinegar or even alcohol xD, pumpkins naturally have sugars that can ferment
