This is very helpful! I’ve posted only three products on Etsy and I made a couple of sales, so I think I will try putting my 100+ TpT products on these other sites gradually.

I’d be curious to hear a comparison of WHICH products sold on the various sites- did you notice any particular differences?

I am on Classful, Made by Teachers and Tes. I do like to be able to post on other platforms just in case something happened to TPT and I do not have to have my own web sites. I make a ton more on TPT but the other sites keeps my animals in cookies.

Yes please make a video comparing these platforms. I was going to try Etsy but the file size limit doesn’t allow me to post any of my resources. Any suggestions ? Last year I made $83.13 in Classful and $23.80 in Made by Teachers. My niche is PreK-2nd English and Spanish. Thanks

Wow, 152 products...Almost my first year too I made about 10$ profit on TPT with about 17 products. Abt $6 on Etsy. I guess I should work harder. But i would like to tackle Amazon & create a brand.

How soon did you start using your blog and email to promote tpt? Would that be a factor?

When you break down time spent to create and post material, fees, etc. is it really worth it? Would it take many, many years to make more than $10 here and $20 there? I have thought about doing this since using TPT to homeschool my daughter but I want it to be worth my time.

IMO, TPT is the default for teachers/homeschoolers looking for resources. I don't see anything replacing it unless the owners of TPT do it to themselves by dissuading the content creators. Good information though when trying to decide where to spend our valuable limited resource of time.

Becca, I was meaning to ask what is your take on opening an blog/individual online shop. You've been blongging for a long time now, obviously, it is not the same things as owning an online store, but I think you have by now a good idea of what would take to open an online store in terms of costs to host the site, digital security, etc. I've seen multiple selles on tpt who own their individual shops in addition to having a blog. These are bigger sellers, whith large audiences, but hey, everyone has to start somewhere, right?!

Why are you not opening your own shop? Like Shopify or Big Commerce? I make nearly $500k a year on my own shop through Big Commerce and I typically make $30k a year on TPT, but I put zero effort into TPT... sadly, but I would say $30k on TPT is good passive income since I've literally do nothing there aside from carrying over new products. I've been on TPT since 2013 and got tired of the commission fees and the fact that people typically go to your TPT shop and might end up buying from another teacher. You said you have an email list and blog, so why not send them to your own private shop and bypass paying some of these commission fees to all of these other platforms? I bet you would kill it on your own shop!!

@@justamom4853absolutely! In 2020 I hit 7 figures because all of my resources were already in digital format and it made it super easy for homeschoolers and teachers to use during the pandemic. I haven't hit that number again since, but I hold steady at an average of $500k/year. My main roadblock right now is just scaling and expanding my market, but I'm working on a few strategies this year that I hope will help get my business out there more. :)

@@justamom4853 yes, my only issue now is scaling that. In 2020 I made 7 figures, but that was defiantly because of the lockdown and I haven't been able to replicate that again.
