in this video, I'll be discussing my thoughts on my 130 max after 1 year of ownership. I'll also talk about the future tool room addition to the mill shed as well as tips and tricks I use to make milling a little easier.

Thanks , i try not to ramble too much but have to catch myself sometimes. Make no mistake I'm still a novice, but will learn to be more proficient, hopefully.

First time viewer and because of this video now a new subscriber. Thank you for taking the time to make this video... it’s probably one of the best reviews I’ve seen. It helps to make good decisions when folks like you share your honest experience. I especially like the fact that you included your tips. I’m 65 and have a portable chainsaw mill I use but I would like to move up to a bandsaw mill. I have a few years before retiring and I’m hoping to have one setup by them. I’m not sure I can convince my wife into allowing me to get one as big as your HM130MAX. I have been looking at the HM122 (9.5 HP) or possibly the HM126 (14 HP) with one extension. Do you sharpen your own blades or do you send them out? Well, I’ve rambled on long enough... again thank you for this video review.

I sharpen mine with a harbor freight chainsaw sharpener. I did have to modify it a bit, I plan on doing a video soon showing how. I maxed my mill out one time and it was a job getting that big sucker turned. I think you'd be happy wirh the 122 or 126, it depends on how big a log you can move as well. I have a video also where I use my chainsaw mill, it does up to 52 inches wide. Had to buy a 3120xp chainsaw to run it. Thanks so much for the sub and good luck on deciding which mill to get.

I look forward to seeing the video of the blade sharpening. I did see the video of the chainsaw mill... now that was a bar and chain. I have a 660 with a 36" bar and chain but that's as big as I care to go to old for anything bigger lol @@thesheff79

@Tim-MCMLVIII that 600 pound winch is a back saver on mine. That 3120xp was using 3/4 of a tank of gas per pass on that pine log. Those mills are nice when you can't move the log, just take the mill to it. My mill has a 66" bar.
@Tim-MCMLVIII5 ай бұрын
It's funny you mention the winch because after seeing yours I'm going to look tomorrow to see if I can make one for mine. I like to make things when I can. I liked the thought of not having to push it while bending over. 66" bar dang that's 30" longer than mine... no wonder you have a winch on it lol@@thesheff79

Can windshield washer fluid be used to clean the blade and prevent freeze up on your tank?
@thesheff7910 ай бұрын
Sure can, I use it in the winter months but also drain my tank after I'm done.

Have you seen an issue with the water adjuster and set screw corroding to where the set screw will not turn?
@thesheff799 ай бұрын
Not yet but I am planning to replace mine with a 1/4 turn ball valve. Mine got stopped up several times .
@benscoles50858 ай бұрын
that set up is crap, I found it easier to just adjust flow at the on off on the dash board, it only needs a slight movement to get all the water you need, and is easy to add a lot more if needed with out screwing around with that good for nothing valve they put on.
@thesheff798 ай бұрын
@@benscoles5085 I hate it as well.

Yes , and they use strap like clamps to hold the lube tanks on bypassing the cracked bracket problems.
