Great succinct explanation Jerred, thanks for the tips. I have to watch your other video again. Don't remember if it covers the images themselves. Is it important to offer a lot of size choices? I'm not certain how to know if the IQ is good for various sizes. Have a great weekend!

Charlie… it’s debatable whether it’s good or not to have many choices. I’ve seen photographers have success BOTH ways. One I looked at has ONE size choice, and they sold thousands. Another has like 10 sizes - they sold thousands. Honestly - I’m not sure! HA! And maybe I should make a video about file resolution and printing, eh? That might be good! Mostly though if you have 200 resolution at whatever file size you are looking to print at, you should be good. Some people say 300 resolution, but for what I’m doing, I’ve found 200 is really good, but of course my target is 300. I can usually get away with almost any file size with GFX, but with my OM-1, it depends. A really well-exposed 20-megapixel file can go bigger than you might think, especially if you use Gigapixel. I have a X-T4 file that I printed 10 feet tall and it looks AMAZING… but the file was nearly perfect out of the camera. Gosh… am I making sense? Maybe a video would be better.

@@JerredZ Well, I guess that would help!! LOL! I guess I was thinking about an image that I shoot then crop maybe to 1X1 or 5X7 in post. Does cropping completely kill an image? How far is ok?

Thanks Jarred, Do I need to print and ship the prints myself or is Etsy able to take care of that? Have you thought about selling just the digital image or always the printed images?

Etsy does NOTHING for you. Some print-on-demand shops integrate with Etsy, which semi-automates the process. And some people choose to sell digital images, and some choose to sell prints - it's really up to you.

It's up to you, George! I see some photographers doing really well with digital downloads, but the prices are always pretty low. You'd have to sell quite a bit of volume before it would work. LIke I said, some photographers can do that, but I think it takes quite a bit of listings to get it going!

You know… that’s a great idea for a video! I’ll do one. BUT - the short answer is that it depends on the photographer and the market you are going after. Are you trying to sell a lot of photos for less? Fewer photos for more? A middle ground? Target “collectors” and put a limit on your “prints?” It all depends… but yeah, a great idea for a video!
