Watch along as I repair a 10,000 hp intake manifold made out of magnesium. This manifold was in a blow up and was deemed junk. I work my magic by welding and machining this magnesium cast $2800 intake manifold. Someone else’s trash is my treasure!

The bit about how you spend your money (or Terry's money or Amalie's money whomever) is irrelevant. The fact that you know where to spend it, what you can afford to skimp on or fix va replace....I don't see a damn thing wrong with any of that. Don't worry about those haters. They probably have no idea anyways what it takes to run one of these cars or teams. Keep the vids coming!!!

Dang it. I had questions all lined up and you answered them in the video. Almost like you knew or had been asked before. Hmm. Keep up the great content! BTW was curious how mag welds, the fire issue, and cost of intake (and see it is in the description... dang it). I would not tease you for the engine hoist. I bought mine off facebook used, but it works....

Hey bro sick repair! Remember if you see black, that is contamination/insufficient shielding my friend! Use a larger cup, multiple passes, more CFH in your flow, or a combination. You wanna nip that (potential for) porosity or contamination in the bud! Cheers buddy!

Pretty cool the repairs you can make nowadays. Great job by the way. Is that for one continuing o-ring and will it get any type of sealant? Jesus Saves
@robwendland
@robwendland 3 жыл бұрын
Jesus does save! Just one big o’ring. We use some vacuum style grease on the surface to help lube the o’ring and also it will leave a sign of leakage if it decides to show up.

What's the weight of the manifold versus aluminum?
@robwendland
@robwendland 3 жыл бұрын
Aluminum one are billet and the only one I know of was a two piece one. I bet it is 3-4 pounds heavier. It was a great concept but the creator passed away. Replacements are not around. It would help relieve blower pressure from explosions by not only burst panels but separating top from bottom. Until I launched the lower piece at Houston in 2016 which ended up destroying our car.
@markmark2080
@markmark2080 3 жыл бұрын
Why magnesium instead of aluminum? Serious question... A couple pounds makes that much difference?
@robwendland
@robwendland 3 жыл бұрын
It really does. Strap 5 lbs to yourself and from a dead stop run 25ft. It’s a big difference in the amount of get go you have at the start!
