Shot At 6:09Pm on Canadian Pacific's Shuswap Subdivision At Mile 73.5
Here we see a 152 car overlength coal train heading up through the sprayers at a decent speed and was being lead by CP AC4400CW 8514 & CP AC4400CW 9668, while CP AC4400CW 9755 was Mid Train Remote, & CP AC4400CW 9804 was Rear Train Remote. 2012 RailFanJon Productions. The Polymer Binding Foam Agent Spray hits each car twice so no dust flys out while they travel to the port of Vancuover for unloading.....you can see why they need these sprayers cause if you look closely to when each time it sprays each car on the first sprayer you can see dust particlles of dust flying out of the car.

A quick search indicates that a ship carrying bulk cargo can carry over 100,000 tons - and it floats! Edit: refers to the largest of these ships

@anusuya k I take it that you don't use electricity? Most countries still require coal to generate electricity. Other countries require coal for use in production of steel. Or maybe they require coal to produce electricity so that they can make aluminium.

@@markfryer9880 It's not so much the burning of the coal, but the mining of the coal contributes methane which is one of the worst greenhouse gases , cows also fart lots of methane , those are the two big killers and then internal combustion is a little better than cow farts

It has been several years since I saw the information, but from what I remember tests determined that a unit train of coal will lose about 10% of the load as dust and small particles between the mine and destination. At 10% then that would be the equivalent of losing 15 or 16 of those cars in transit that the customer is not receiving and the railroad is hauling empty cars for nothing. Unit trains of 100 ton cars are restricted to a maximum of 45 mph because of control and reducing damage to track and cars. It is interesting that an empty train causes more damage than a loaded one because the truck springs are set for loaded condition.

I found a study done in 1974 - 1975 (paper published in 1977) that outlines a variety of tests done on the effectiveness of the "railcar topping". It is a pretty interesting read to me. You can find that here. www.aquafoam.com/papers/Guarnaschelli.pdf

When talking to the loading employee at the coal mine when we were loading a coal train he said if you don't spray you lose 1 ton of coal per car from blowing off from windber pa to Baltimore MD. 130 car train that's alot of coal

Polymer Binding Foam Agent Spray, it sticks to the coal if they used water it wouldn't really coat it down and this stuff they use is sticky so it coats down the coal, and yeah alot of gallons are dumped onto each coal train that passes through here daily. Jon.

It’s to keep the Coal Dust Down, CPKC uses a coal dust suppression Chemical which gets applied once at Loading and once along the way to the port

@@Tot_esze_gus Начнём с того что Артек не "пионерский лагерь" почти три десятка лет. Второе - он находится на оккупированной территории. Кто несёт ответственность за то что происходит на оккупированных территориях? Про "Артек Буковель" - он не имеет собственности, занимая площади курорта Буковель в межсезонье его основной деятельности. Естественно он не может работать весь год.

Love the people commenting that this is a waste of water, would you rather get a face full of coal dust when the train passes? It’s not actually straight water either. It has a latex binding agent in it as well.

VoVaN 85 это чтобы не пылило. У нас на урал так хромруду привозили из африки. В африке жарко, также воды нальют, потом на урал приезжает состав где -30 морозу и все превращается в монолит. Вот собирают со всего завода людей, дают отбойники в руки и долбите ребят. Сам сколько раз долбил. Даже ночью в мороз долбил. Потом приходишь в душевую и чернотой сморкаешься. Было писдец
