Any aircraft that continues to need a runway is just about the dumbest idea conceivable. the whole idea of next generation personal transport is avoiding airports, Anyone couldve produced a car with glued on wings. But whats the point when the very process of driving to an airport checking out for flight and dealing with all the traffic and delay in the process see it better and safer for you to simply purchase a flight. No.. then you have these "drone" concepts. Right.. so we already know the relative levels of safety with a standard exposed rotor helicopter and prop driven aircraft. Now you want to multiply those exposed rotors within close proximity to passengers inside and outside the aircraft.. and what happens when an accident see those rotors sheering off at 300 + mph. Right... these guys thought that one thru.. No the only concept here that is not only viable but brilliantly conceived is the Lilium Jet. Its a true Vtol aircraft not needing a runway, works in close proximity due to the lack of exposed rotors and has a level of redundancy not found in any of these aircraft, which are little more than over glorified more complicated helicopter drones. The lilium Jet has transitional flight. a very complicate task in flight. one that took the worlds militarys decades to figure out. To transition from hover flight into fixed wing traditional flight, and have the ability to blend between the two seemlessly and safely.
