I have recently started to practice in chunks every day so instead of practicing for 3 hours straight where I would regularly loose focus, now I practice in chunks (e.g 30 mins in the morning, one hour later etc.) and it has been very efficient so I really recommend this method

I already play 3 instruments, so adding my uhm..angelic singing to it might actually push my neighbour's over the edge 🤪

The ‘short’ but regular practice sessions is something I did from the start,. I started with 15 minute sessions, after which my back, shoulders and hands would tell me they needed a break. Each session would be dedicated to 1 thing: open strings, scale practice and then the song I was working on. Over time, the sessions became 30 minute sessions. The number of sessions depends on what other things I have to do that day: on work days, I usually only do 1, on other days 2 to 4. When I can do more than 1, I still tend to dedicate each session to something specific: scales in the first, melody in the second. For scale practice I use the scale exercises provided by Tomplay. These will play an accompaniment and the scales as well, making it very audible when I am playing out of tune. For learning/practicing songs, I use Metronaut and Tomplay. I will first focus on being able to play the piece by heart. Then I have the apps play the accompaniment, slow that down at first until I get it right, and then slowly speed it up to ‘normal’ speed.

Another useful video thad violinists and violist use. I missed out, I subscribed to you a while ago and didn't watch much, but these are so helpful to me as a violinist as well, and since I do play all of the orchestral strings (violin as main) all of these tips you give in all of you tip videos I can just replicate (with a little modification if necessary) on all 4. Edit I: this particular video isn't as useful to me since I've been an active violinist for about 10 years, most of these are practically elementary, but I know people that have only been playing for about a year or 2 and it's still good to hear the basics every now and again. Edit II: I can give a tip; this tip works for all musicians but since this is a cello channel, it's mostly directed at y'all, DON'T BE TOO HARD OB YOURSELF!! When I started violin, I was terrible sounding in the beginning, and even now after playing for 10 years, I still sound terrible when starting a new piece but when you start a new piece, it's not gonna sound perfect, it's gonna sound horrible at the start. Don't stress over it and don't overwork yourself. If the piece is giving you a major headache, take a small 5-10 minute break; pray, get some water, eat a very small and light snack, take ibuprofen if it's that bad, do whatever it takes to calm yourself for a few minutes and then get back at it. Figure out what you did wrong, work on correcting it, and then get back at it. Don't stop there either, make sure you reward yourself for practice as well - it doesn't have to be big, it can just be something small like having some ice cream or watching some TV. You can even have scheduled breaks every couple of months from the instrument - not anything crazy, just for a day or 2. You want to keep your mental health in check, it's important for a musician, it'll only hinder you; maybe not now, but sooner or later. Now go on and enjoy yourself, and remember, for growth on your instrument, it's only practice and prayer.

Wendy, I noticed your manager "CAT" walk though your video... What is it's name? As a cat person my two 'bad kids' are always around and determined to make what ever I am up to difficult or awkward. Two questions: How do you practice with your neighbour's centroamerican music sounding like that! All that merengue and bachata together 😂 And... Your bridge is more close to the *tailpiece* at 4th string and is more closer to the *fingerboard* at 1st... Is that intentionally? Does it not change the distances between your fingers in the same position but just different string? (I'm english language entry level 😂)
