That's a great observation. Evergreen trees and shrubs are indeed renowned for their slow to moderate growth rates. While they can provide year-round beauty and privacy, patience is key when cultivating these plants. It's crucial to factor this into planning and expectations. In some cases, faster-growing deciduous trees or shrubs might be a better fit for a project with a tighter timeline. Thanks for sharing your insight!

Very concerning to see privet listed. Is there a non invasive species? Here in the South it is very invasive.

It sure is, especially in the Southeast. And it must be pruned regularly to keep it thick and shaped or else it gets scraggly. Those english garden hedges are practically a full time job.

Thank you for raising this concern. Privet can indeed become invasive in some areas, particularly in the Southern United States, due to its rapid growth and spread. While there may be some non-invasive varieties, it's generally best to check with local horticulture or conservation experts about whether it's suitable to plant in your area. It's important to consider the environmental impact of our gardening choices, and we appreciate you bringing attention to this issue. In the future, we will strive to mention these considerations when discussing potentially invasive species.

So wide they won’t fit most suburban gardens.

Thank you for your comment. You're correct that some of the plants mentioned in the video can grow quite large and may not be suitable for smaller suburban gardens. However, many can be managed through proper pruning and maintenance. Additionally, there are often dwarf or compact varieties available that might be a better fit for smaller spaces. As always, it's important to consider the specific needs and constraints of your own garden when choosing plants.
