I agree, the thing that annoys me the most about the remake is that it Carrie looks like a typical high school girl not remotely like an outcast plus a lot of the CGI effects look terrible while Carrie's blood soaked look didn't look scary or disturbing at all. In the original film Carrie looks exactly like the kind of girl who you'd expect to be bullied during the time period and her prom scene was as frightening and eerie as the score that accompanied it. The remake is boring as hell and I'd honestly prefer the original hands down

Didn't really care much for the House of Wax remake. But 13 Ghosts took the original and made it one of heck of a ride. Even though they are not related except for being remakes of William Castle films, I will often pair 13 Ghost with House on Haunted Hill remake. Geoffrey Rush does a great modern take on Vincent Price's role, and then actually having the house be haunted was a nice twist on the original. When I was in 6th grade in 1986, a year after it came out, the original Fright Night was my favorite movie, and I stopped counting the number of times I watched it at 200. I enjoyed the remake, and thought that some of the details were pretty cool- like the specific species or clan of vampire that Dandridge was, and the different take on Peter Vincent. I always loved Stephen Geoffreys as the original Evil Ed, and enjoyed him in other movies like Fraternity Vacation, which Amanda Bearse was also in, playing his love interest. Tim Robbins was in that movie, too- as a character called “Mother” Tucker! Sad that Geoffreys later did some gay porn to pay the bills, after not getting roles for a while. I haven’t heard anything about him in years, since then. Anyway, that’s quite the collection of tangents I went off on, sorry! Just wanted to say how much I used to love Fright Night. Later!

No "The Thing"? It could have easily taken the place of "House of Wax", which was rather terrible. And let's switch "Carrie" for "Maniac".

House of Wax 2005 shouldn't even be considered a remake. It's a completely different movie other than the title. Plus, the Vincent Price version was a remake of the 1930s film.

Agree with the list, however, Carrie was a really bad remake, critics tear the movie apart, and acting, script were really bad indeed. Frigth nigth on the other hand was good, underrated but good.

Let the right one in is a beautiful masterstroke of film making. Let me in is painfully mediocre

Honestly, I would include the Friday The 13th Remake, yes I have heard all the issues with the remake and all, but what baffles me is, those issues wherein the entire Friday The 13th franchise. Sorry, but Friday The 13th as loved by many people are not these groundbreaking horror films, they where dumb films with pretty bad writing and characters that got a lot of love cause it was one of the first mainstream slasher films that showed off some gory kills. So it baffles me people hate the remake mentioning its issues, and somehow ignore that the original franchise has those same exact problems.

The main problem is that the remake is basically cramming the first 4 movies into one instead of being a remake of just one of the movies. I definitely liked the remake, especially in how they portrayed Jason as a truly terrifying killer again

Not so much a horror besides its name, but the closer to date Little Shop musical was so much better than the first!
