The heyday of the Knicks was because of Ewing. The Knicks have collapsed since his departure, so you can see how great Ewing's presence was. If he beat Olajuwon in 1994 and won the championship... If they beat the Bulls with Jordan even once and went to the finals and won... Not bad, but the rating would have been higher.

You have to earn a ring. You don't, "deserve" it, until you win it. Everyone on this list falls under that category. Fantastic players, just not in the right situations at the right times.

Ah yes, AI. A negative on offense, a negative on defense, and a negative in the locker room. All masked by scoring in horrendously low IQ scoring bulk, gambling for steals, and seeming cool. AI really is an inspiration as proof that we all can do it.

To be honest I would put Stockton as number 1. The guy was a MONSTER as a point guard. He was very skilled, had phenomenal IQ, one of the best playmakers and one of the best ball thieves

Thanks, this is excellent. I have AI higher, yes, because of his heart, he would never give in, and he was fearless, just like Stockton. And I would have included 2 x MVP Steve Nash, maybe the savviest player (pace Larry Bird), a level which Trae Young is quickly attaining.

Elgin Baylor was such a tragic case. Should have won in 69. Just too injured and done to play out the 72 season. Pete Maravich could also be on the list.. Was going to go to the 76ers who were contenders but that fell through because they wanted to do a rectal exam and that freaked him out. Went to the Celtics instead and retired in the 80-81 preseason because Bill Fitch hated him and of course the Celtics won that year.
