Walt Disney World and Disneyland are very different, so different in size, rides and shows and in today's video we are going to go though the 10 biggest differences between these 2 magical places. Disneyland in California is smaller then Disney World in Florida...how much smaller? Try 50 times!!
NOTE: I am not saying that one is better than the other, they are just different.

I love both parks and Disney World is currently my "home" park since I only live 5 hours away, BUT, I think I prefer Disneyland SLIGHTLY more than Disney World. To me, Disneyland, since it is so small, seems to focus more on "plussing" (as Walt would say) the attractions and making them better and top notch and such that they actually WORK. Disney World has a LOT of run-down or lack-luster or half-baked rides that never seem to change or improve or get forgotten for some bigger, better, newer, more attractive ride or show because since WDW is so big, it is focused on expanding and adding on more than improving what it already has. Take for example Buzz Lightyear. In Disneyland, the ride shooters can actually be lifted from their holsters, you can actually see the laser dot on the targets where you are aiming BEFORE you pull the trigger, and the shooters are actually more or less calibrated very well. At WDW, you cannot lift the shooters- they are in fixed positions, you cannot see the laser dot, and even if you are aimed perfectly at a target, the calibration is off a lot of the time. I would often get VERY different scores in one trip for each time I rode because my shooter would either be calibrated wrong or just not working or it would happen to work very well and I'd get a decent score. At DL, every time I rode, my score would be more or less consistently in the same range. Also, I do like Disneyland because the ride experiences are better. Take for example, Pirates of the Caribbean. At DL, the ride is MUCH longer and more fleshed out than at WDW. There is MORE of a storyline. The one at WDW seems rushed and condensed. I LOVED when they did the star wars overlay at DL for Space Mountain. What does WDW get? Nothing. Some of the rides and areas at DL seem to have better thought out theming than WDW. I can't wait for the day WDW decides to focus on its already-existing rides and touch them up rather than keep making more rides and forgetting the others. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE WDW, but....... DL is where it's at!!!

Being able to walk out of Disneyland after the firworks and across the street to my hotel rather than standing in a huge crowd waiting for transportation back to my hotel at Disney World is a big plus for me. For major rides Indiana Jones, Radiator Springs Racers and the buyou at thr start of Pirates just edge out Pandora and Expedition Everest for me. I've heard that the first park that people visit tends to be their favorite so maybe that's why I slightly prefer Disneyland over World.
@Carnivorousplantyum
@Carnivorousplantyum 6 жыл бұрын
@Ramon Mota haha yes 👍. I did it for the first time this month and I did really like it but those other attractions I mentioned just slightly edge it out in terms of overall experience for me. The que for Indiana Jones and all the different "dangers" faced really make me feel like I'm in the adventure where the premise of Flight of passage is that you are an outsider in a lab just doing a link up. That lowers the immersion a bit for me. With Radiator Springs I again like the variety of scenic drive, night time town visit and smooth thrilling race as well as the nostalgic Americana. I'm from Canada and every time we've gone to Disneyland we have driven through those same desert landscapes. With the Pirate's buyou I just love the atmosphere.

California Girl who loves Disneyland. Went on many school band trips there. I prefer the size of Disneyland everything is so much easier to get to and not wasting time on busses however I loved world showcase at Epcot. Biggest plus for Disneyland is family lives in the area so we do two days with our kids then dump them at grandmas and have an adult only day. It’s so nice to do both. Blue bayou is amazing and I LOVE the monte christo.

I've been to both WDW and DL and my home park is now Disneyland. One of the main items is the parks and hotels are so close to each other. You can park-hop or go to Downtown Disney in a just about five minutes. We stayed at one of the Good Neighbor hotels and it was only a seven minute walk from our hotel to the entrance to the parks. That eliminated the need for a car and taking any buses. At the end of the night it was nice to know we only had a short walk to the hotel; no waiting for a bus and then walking from the bus stop to our room like we have to do in WDW. The details in Disneyland are so well done. Plus the weather in Anaheim seems to be always perfect.

Adding on to #8, the Characters at Disneyland are so much better than at WDW. At WDW, the Characters are literally just meet and greets, but at Disneyland almost every Character gets to roam around and even play games. I can only think of two Characters at WDW who can do the same: the Stormtroopers and the Green Army Men. I've seen charades, duck duck goose, and other games played at Disneyland. My absolute "must-not-miss" thing at Disneyland is going to Main Street to watch/play in Musical Chairs with Alice and the Mad Hatter. But Characters and atmosphere is what Disneyland does best. The resorts and rides is what WDW does best.

I love Walt Disney World and because of geography, that is the resort that we visit most frequently, but my heart lives at Disneyland. I love the pedestrian access, the history (I literally sobbed walking down Main Street the first time I took the Walk in Walt's Disneyland Footsteps tour--if you've taken that tour with Phillip, you understand), and the charm of the place. Walt Disney World actually gets to me after a few days. I get frustrated with transportation and jumping through so many hoops to park hop. Disneyland's super guest-friendly security perimeter is awesome. I love that I can run back and forth between the two parks and seeing so many walk around characters is fantastic. Also, Disneyland is all about the trees and benches. For our next trip in November, I may actually spend an entire day sitting on a bench on Main Street. There are still advantages to WDW though. The internet will fight me, but I prefer Pirates, Haunted Mansion, and Big Thunder at WDW. Of course, our favorite attractions--Alice in Wonderland & Storybookland Canal Boats--are only at Disneyland...

I've been going to WDW since the late 80's I've seen tons of changes and it is truly amazing how big it is. When friends ask me what there is there I quote the Circle of Life lyrics, "There's more to see than can ever be seen More to do than can ever be done There's far too much to take in here More to find than can ever be found" I feel it's impossible to do it all, from the rides to interactive adventures, shows, hidden Mickey's, other little hidden gems like the two hidden Nautilus, every resort has special, shows and activities and I know you know just as well as I do that's only scratching the surface. Maybe one day I will make it to Disneyland but for now WDW is my happy place and holds a special place in my heart. Thanks for your videos and the dedication you put into your love for Disney!

It's been 12 years since I've been to Disneyland, and my husband has never been. We want to go and do a week trip where we spend half the time at Disneyland and half the time at Blizzcon (although admittedly I would probably sneak away to Disneyland anyway lol) Disneyland is my original park, where my mom grew up and went every year with her family. Since her parents passed away and she moved out here to Buffalo, we have only been able to go three times...and that last time was over a decade ago. I keep telling her I want to take her back there while she can still enjoy the rides, to remember her parents, and to have a daughter-mom trip... But honestly it's just as expensive to do Disneyland for three days as it is to do WDW for a week. So WDW has won out every time. Someday soon we will get back there...I love looking back at my old photos. But I still haven't seen World of Color, and haven't even looked up videos to spoil myself...hope I can get back before they get rid of it!

We live down the street from Disneyland and have been to disneyworld both have their advantages Disney World you get a little more immersed into the magic and themeing because you can’t see outside traffic you can’t hear outside noises you really feel put in to that theme of the park you’re in and closed off from the outside world where is Disneyland you hear it you see it it’s still really fun but you don’t to me feel immersed in a whole new world, but also Disneyland I can be outside and almost home 20 minutes after I leave the park where is with Disney World takes us at least an hour to get back to our hotel.

Fun video! We just got back from DL on Wednesday and I was thinking about doing a trip report today in My Disney Family 😀. It was my 5th trip to DL and my 1st since going to WDW for the first time so I also found myself making comparisons. I like the ease of getting around DL, no transportation necessary. But after staying at POFQ our of site hotel was seriously lacking. There are fewer photopass photographers, but the lines are shorter, sometimes none at all, so we got for the amount of time we were there more pictures! I think 2 days for each park is ideal so you could see all of DL comfortably in 4 days. At WDW you could easily do 8 or more. All in all they are both wonderful in their unique ways!

I’ve been to both parks several times. APART from the Disneyland/World parks, I’d give the advantage to WDW, where EPCOT and the other parks are wonderful, and (for me) more enjoyable than California Adventure; great rides and environment. I also enjoy the WDW resort hotels because they don’t feel as ‘in the city’ as the Anaheim hotels… but they are all very nice. However, comparing Disneyland to Magic Kingdom, I’d choose Disneyland. Yes, it feels older and more crowded but -for me- that’s part of the charm. Also, some of the differences - I really like New Orleans Square in Disneyland. The Blue Bayou Restaurant, attached to the ‘Pirates…” ride is terrific! I enjoy that ‘It’s a Small World’, which I first experienced in the 1964 Worlds Fair (NYC) having a separate, charming building. That said, the Magic Kingdom in Florida is wonderful… but it has a different ‘vibe’.

I don't know about the licensing issue because it seems like Disney is profiting off their SHIELD store at Disney Springs and I believe Universal owns the rights to comic book version of all the Marvel characters. Like a loan. Which is why Cap's outfit is always like the comics. I do think that they will get the characters back. Except for Doom. Plus Hulk is already owned by universal and Spider-Man by Sony.

Disneyland seems to have the magic that Walt envisioned, and WDW can never replicate. Most of it is metaphysical, being cognizant of the fact that Walt walked and even lived on Disneyland’s Main Street. But I think it’s also in the layout - Disneyland is much smaller and feels more intimate. It’s also more detailed, it literally feels like you’re in a fantasy world. My seven-year-old daughter, who I would imagine is bereft of bias, described wdw as “plain.” With that said, I enjoyed wdw tremendously. I wish we had something like Epcot in California, which is essentially an adult daycare center, a sort of reward for the parents after a long day of standing in long lines.

Wagyu steak at Yachtsman Steakhouse. Extremely expensive, yes; overpriced, no. You have to experience it to believe.

It's not in LA, it's in Anaheim which is in Orange Country. People who live here get really upset about that. It's like saying Tampa Bay is Orlando.

Going to DL for the first time after our Disney Wonder Baja Cruise in March. I have to admit I’m a little worried about the lines since there are only two parks and how they handle fast passes vs. DW. I guess if we don’t get much done there, it’ll be a good reason to go back😉

Carrie Campbell some line avoidance tips: 1) download the Disneyland App, and purchase the MaxPass - for $10/day, you can get your FastPass through the app and avoid running to each location for them. Its a feature included in the higher tier Annual Passes, too. My wife & I had 4 FPs at once during our recent trip because of how they can stack & when they were scheduled! 2) go at rope drop, hit the rides that you know will be busy later (Space Mountain, Indy, Peter Pan's Flight, etc.) & then hit the shorter rides the rest of the day (Pirates, Haunted Mansion). There are guides on YT on what to hit first if you wanna maximize your DL experience!

I prefer Disneyland. That's where the real magic is, Walt Disney World is just mass tourism.

Because of Disneylands location it just seems to be lacking a little bit of the magic Disneyworld offers but people should go at least once.

1- Magic Kingdom (most visited theme park on Earth, bigger more beautiful version of DL, best castle fireworks show) 2- Disneyland (most rides packed in one park, amazing nighttime shows, worst castle and worst Tomorrowland) 3- Tokyo Disney Sea (most original, beautifully themed) 4- Disneyland Paris (the most beautiful Disney castle park, elegant, best Tomorrowland, Phantom Manor) 5- Epcot (original, World Showcase is unique and breathtaking, lacks enough rides until revamp is complete) 6- California Adventure (great rides, Cars land, World of Color, worst theming cohesion of any park) 7- Animal Kingdom (original, most elaborate theming of all parks, Flight of Passage is the best Disney attraction in the US) 8- Shanghai Disneyland (huge, most advanced attractions of any Disney park, very unique lands and rides, weather sucks) 9- Hollywood Studios (great rides and Fantasmic, lacks attractions until Star Wars opens) 10- Tokyo Disneyland (blatant copy of Magic Kingdom and DL, with no originality, fun but nothing unique) 11- Walt Disney Studios (only worth visiting for the amazing Ratatouille area, worst park until expansion opens)
