I was so happy when she was just a nobody. Even if they still made Palpatine come back to get her. They could have just said that she was just extremely powerful with the force so Palpatine wanted her power. It would have been WAY better than her being his grandkid.

So... all those times that Luke fell to the dark side in the EU, all of those times Palpatine came back by way of cloning, all of the details from Solo that just confirm what was in the EU... that all went away? Sorry, Skippy, but the EU was never canon. Lucas never cared and disregarded anything he didn't like, even if it was in the films. The EU was little more than fan fiction. Some fan fiction is really good and bring forward new ideas, but that doesn't change it being fan fiction and not canon.

This was a hilariously bad move, but Palpatine somehow returned several times throughout the EU. If anything, it's closer to the EU than the other 2 films were.

The funny thing with Star Wars is that nothing was the original plan. Lucas was just winging it the whole time, yet somehow made a story that's even reasonably coherent.

Maybe he didn’t know she was force sensitive. What confuses me in Yoda says there is another in the empire strikes back and Lucas didn’t make that sibling decision to Jedi. So who was the original other.

@@angryboxingfan Did he not make the decision until Jedi, or did he just not reveal it? I don't know the history on that one, so it could have either been a backdoor in case he wanted to insert another character, or it could have been a hitn at Leia before dropping the connection.

@@ScooterinAB Leia was originally Luke’s love interest. That changed for empire because the chemistry Harrison and Carrie had. Luke says in a new hope who is she , she’s beautiful. Leia kisses him when they swing away from the storm troopers and Luke is Jealous when Han talks about her. They then kiss twice in empire. It definitely wasn’t the plan from the beginning and I heard Lucas discuses it in an interview.

Even if she was his sister then, he might have still kissed her. :P What I mean is that Lucas may have written her into being Luke's sister, but simply didn't do anything about it yet. He could have also written in the possibility but hadn't settled on it yet, or that line could have been an option or idea for a different character than never formed. I've never heard anythinb one way or another, but it's hard to know what was happening since Lucas is such a revisionist. He'd go on to say that he always planned 12 movies when that was never true, and probably says that he always planned for Luke and Leia to be sisters, despite that also having never been the case early on. So even if he did come out and say who the other person was meant to be, I don't know if I'd believe it.

yup episode 5 empire strikes back was suppost to be his last. that of what harrison thought and knew then was disappointed for episode 6 to be reprise for the role.

How did they do him? The Luke I see in Last Jedi is the same Luke from the original films; a starry eyed boob who struggles to not fall to the dark side.
