The rush hour rule is definitely true, at my location, there is a racetrack and 4 bars within a 1 mile radius of our location, so we stay open late to maximize profit during the 10-2 rush hours. It's terrifying seeing lines of 40+ cars sit there at midnight when there is only 2 people on line

I worked at Taco Bell as my first job as a 16 year old kid at a brand new location in 2017. The entire uniform was provided, except shoes, and you were never required to wear a belt, a Taco Bell belt as far as I’m aware did not exist at that point, as long as your shirt was tucked in and you wore your apron they didn’t care. Worst job I’ve ever had by the way lmfao.

Every franchise runs differently with different rules. The only rules that I’ve noticed remain the same is the weight of the food but even then we don’t weigh every item because it would be a waste of food.

Soft Tacos should weigh 3.6 oz hard tacos are 2.9. Employees weigh every 3rd item not ever item (but that could be a franchise difference).They will absolutely replace the order without the receipt to make it right for the customer just dont go overboard because they know what they made and didn't. If you want sauce just ask for a number and you will almost always get it. Also, crew was allowed to hang out as long as they did distract the employees on the clock. If so they likely were told to stop distracting or leave (franchise specific) Worked there for 15 years as a Market Training Manager.

Wrong. You can bring in food from other areas like McDonald’s and Burger King. Also you need to provide your own Belt, Shoes, and Pants.

Look I worked for Taco Bell for 10 years from Crew member to Store Manager. I can assure you all of these are things that happen, but throwing out food for not weighing properly doesn't happen, at least I never experienced it. Yes you are supposed to but I've never known a manager that tight.

This is all wrong, aside from the sauce packets. I never got a belt, I've brought food in, I've eaten there without being on the clock. Nobody was forced to wear hairnets, as long as they wore the hat or had the hair up. There's no strict guidelines on how to actually roll a burrito. That's just a few things. Even the sauce packets, they tell you to give one per item, unless it's a larger item. Then it can get more. We never had to stay at taco bell for lunch unless it's nightshift, were it's limited staff. But we've left to run to gas station, to grab food. We even ordered outside food and had it delivered directly to us. I've also taken food home. You do realize taco bell employees get a discounts, at least all the ones I've been to do. So we can use that when working or off the clock, eat there or take it home. Even right after work. What competitors are you conferring to Del Taco, chipotle what? As Del Taco is pretty much similar, nobody at taco bell would really go there for food, unless it's for the burgers they sold. But we had no rules about not going there and bringing the food back. Idk where your getting your facts.

Yeaaaah, the TB I worked at...I wouldn't say a "strict dress code" they just had a uniform. We were allowed to hangout at the TB on any day we were off, I didn't even know we "can't". With the leaving with the food on lunch break, I never heard of that but no one really left, they just went to their car to eat... People they only weighed the food when the people above the store owner came in. Lastly, we remade the hell out of everyone's food regardless of recipe or not, they could even lie straight to our face and we would have to remake it for them. All of this was under a franchise ownership though, so yeah other places could be different.

That food from a competitor must not apply anymore, either that or the supervisor at those places don't care cuz when i used to be a pizza hut driver, i used to deliver pizzas to taco bell employees all of the time inside the restaurant.

Wow! I had no idea of all of the rules and restrictions. This video definitely makes me appreciate the employees at the Taco Bell here in Watervliet Michigan! I have to say that the employees here are the best! Always friendly, fast and I don't think they have ever made a mistake with my order. And there are times that they have stayed open until 3:30 am when really busy. Good people, good food.

Even with a given number for sauces, it depends on the person putting the sauces in the bag. I've said 10 sauces. One will give a massive hand full, another will count them out, and one even gave just a small hand of sauces.

Jiffy lube had uniform belts. Velcro so as not to scratch a vehicle. Only shop I've worked at that did that

I have been given a lot of free items from Taco Bell and have had parts of my order comped because I had to wait over 5 minutes I didn’t even request them they just did that for me which is why I like my local Taco Bell.

When I worked in fast food, we got paid for lunch break if we stayed in the store. If we were leaving the store we had to punch out and punch back in when we returned.

I worked at Taco Bell between 1997 to 2004, some rules are real and I know are still active to date, especially the amount of hot sauce hand to the costumers, so please don't blame on them for those who always complain the employees give them less hot sauce, the other rules, well some I had never heard of maybe those are new, but get real, I don't think they would take it seriously in reality.

As a former employee, I would go get outside food and sometimes the building would pitch in for an order for everyone as well, I would go and use the WiFi without being told to leave on my off time I would also take quite a bit home to eat and leave all the time on lunch with food I just bought

Some of these aren’t true. A soft taco weighs 3.6 ozs. But most restaurants have. Specific way food is made. They don’t have to weigh every item. The franchise I worked for preferred you stayed on premises for breaks, but you stayed clocked in. Watches, bracelets and rings aren’t allowed by the health dept because they hold bacteria and stones can fall out.

I got food poisoning ,sweats/stomach cramps/the bathroom was home for few hours 3 weeks ago eating at a taco bell,so it's on the no go fast food place for me as of that moment.

They can eat at Taco Bell on their days off, they just don't want them "hanging around" loitering. That really isn't good for any fast food restaurant.

1. Burrito rolling rule, kinda but it's the employees fault if the ingredients aren't evenly distributed. It's just laziness. 2. There was no rule for handing out hot sauce where I worked. If someone asked for a handful, I gave them two hand fulls. 3. They were really strict about the uniform. All black pants, all black shoes. Always a hair net over beards. Hats on at all times. I never heard about the belt unless that's new? 4. Lol one manager used to always bring in pizza. Never heard of it and no one cared. 5. Never heard of no hanging out off duty rule. A couple managers, and even the wife of some corporate taco bell dude broke this rule. The unwritten rule for us was free food for employees. 6. Based on the last "rule", we were more than allowed to take food home with us. If food was to be thrown away, it was eaten by us in the back or taken home. 7. What food isn't prepared in a specific way? The specific order is laid out for us. Go from left to right picking out the ingredients. 8. Weigh every food item? lol who has time for that... Only during on the job "training" was our food weighed and measured. JOKE TIME!!! I once made a burrito 5 inches long. It was supposed to be 7 inches long. I told my innocent hot manager, "You know, to a lot of guys that is 7 inches." And she laughed really hard. And so did the other employees who heard it. I'm funny. 9. I dunno, we closed at 11 everyday but we were really closed at 10:55 when we started putting the food away. 10. Look, I don't want trouble. Sure our food is weighed at the end of the day to see how we stack up against orders and food spillage but we were rated the best taco bell in the state by auditors and reviewers so I guess we got away with it. You want free food, you got it. Just shut up already and go away.

After watching this I wouldn't want to work here. To many very strict rules like how a taco a tenth of an ounce over weight gets it thrown out and a very special dress code where the hat has to be worn a specific way.

I use to work at taco bell and a lot of these are not true, they only provided a hat and a shirt. Pants were to be bought, they did have the option to buy shoes from them as for the belt I only ever saw one. Depending on the manager I was aloud to take home food and even get some food for my family sometimes. We could also remake an order if you didn't have a receipt sometimes but it had to be under 5 Dollars and as for the bringing in outside food that wasn't true my store was located next to a Wendy's which we could go and get food there, we'd even have employees and managers ask for stuff when one of us left for lunch break

I have been a manager at Taco Bell, McDonald's, Wendy's, Hardee's, and Long John Silver's. With the exception of the weight thing (which is nowhere near as strict as this suggests) all of these are perfectly normal and easily justified. Not at all bizarre when it's the industry standard.

This is false. I am a manager at a Taco Bell. And literally 75% of this video is false. Like we are required to weigh every single item? Lmao ok we can’t weigh items during a rush hour. And we are able to take food home from Taco Bell as long as it gets rung up as a employee meal. Also in the handbook an associate has 30 mins before their shift or 30 mins after their shift to get their employee meal. If they are eating in the lobby you can’t just kick them out. And also we aren’t required to necessarily ask for a receipt we need to keep the customers coming not pushing them away. We want happy customers not mad customers because we didn’t help them. Yeah they dont weigh every item. I've had difference in simple tacos. Usually drive thru tacos seem to have less cheese and lettuce then when I go in. Inside it seems they pack simple tacos with lettuce and cheese.

The Taco Bell close to where I work, has the sauce packets out by the soda dispenser. I get what I want. And, I want a LOT! Mild taco sauce, is my favorite. No questions asked. The manager at this store knows this, and I have yet to throw away a full packet. They ALL get used. I DO like the TB Baseball sale. If my local team scores 5 runs in the previous day's game, I get 3 free tacos. Works out to 3 supreme tacos, a large drink, for the MASSIVE charge, of $3.11. steve
